(Coronavirus) Mod 7!
-Fire control:
Bumped early FC hit rates (less slow paced battles)
Moved Director Firing research earlier (less slow paced battles)
Bumped Improved director and Advanced director hit rates to +3/+6 (even faster paced battles)
Range multiplier to positive ID targets (ship classname identified) bumped to 1.0 (default 0.9. Even faster paced battles)
-Torpedo ranges adjusted for all to keep up with FC changes. End tech roughly about the IJN
Type 95-Ship sinking due to flotation damage will disappear in a couple of minutes. No more dead ship corpse whipping. However failed to find "fire raging out of control" and "crew abandon ship" timers, so while rare, those corpses are still bullet magnets...
-X turret and V turret weighs the same, no weight penalties (ideally both should have penalty but it's the limit of hex editing)
-BBs will take more part in Cruiser action/Convoy attack/Coastal raid colonial battles. "Cruiser action" renamed to "Cruiser clash" to distinguish from battles defined in WarInfo files. (Coastal raids require speed so probably need to build faster BBs especially early game)
-Secondary ammo for guns 7" and up: 125 RPG (default 90)
-Edits to facilitate 1950->1900 "time warps" for longer gameplay:
CLs can launch smoke floats in 1900 (default 1907 even after research)
DDs can launch flotilla attack in 1900 (default 1910, for some reason they do not attack 1900-1909)
14kts cruise speed changed to 16kts in 1900 (default 1907)
DDs can use screen formation/role in 1900 (default 1908 even after research)
BB/BC distinction changed to one rule only. <=27kts: BB; 28-30kts: belt <=16" is BC, >16" is BB; >=31kts: BC
-8" CL and 11" CA is back. (11" legacy CA needs speed >=25kts, or it is a B)
-Deleted oil access post 1920. Nation needs oil producing colony to build oil firing ships. (*Globalization ending*...)
-War victory economy bump back to default. Seems to be more challenging this way. Government collapse victory is 40 points.
-Ship sprite size increased for BB/BC/B/CA/CL, moved the breakpoints to higher tonnage levels. Big ships are now very big! All AI .tdf design templates resized.
Comparison:
*******
-Revamped AI ship design TDF templates for 5% research speed, "time warps", and very big displacements:
a) Folder \Data\IDes\00_TDF 0-3X_8inCL_11inCA_enl:
Contains designs from 1900 legacy up to WWI era dreadnoughts and light ships. CLs are 8". To be used when game starts. Even up to 1950, AI will only build 30000t+ WWI level ships. Can be used from game start to 1950, or game start to mid-game 1930ish.
b) Folder \Data\IDes\01_TDF 3.5X_8inCL_11inCA_enl:
contains ships upgraded from WWI era to end day tech and <52000t displacment. AI built ships in 39000-45000t range. CLs are 8". Can be used from mid-game 1930ish, or on the first 1950->1900 "time warp".
c) Folder \Data\IDes\02_TDF 4.5X_8inCL_11inCA_enl:
contains ships upgraded from WWI era to 64000-70500 ton displacement. Should dock size allows, AI built ships will be in 68000-81000 ton range.
Contains beefed up CAs, 10000t+ 8" CLs, and 2000t+ DDs.
Can be used after all nations dock size is larger than 70500ton.
IMPORTANT: do not use these if any AI nation's dock size is smaller than 70500ton. Otherwise the AI auto design process could fail. (AI auto design fails when ship displacement defined in .TDF is bigger than its dock size. If it happens you get AI building ships larger than its dock size, and "illegal main gun quality: 9" when entering battle against these ships. In the default game, the "Russian Gangut template" BC3X2.TDF is bugged like this, because it makes AI build a 32500t ship in 1910.)
d) Folder \Data\IDes\03_TDF 5X_8inCL_11inCA_enl:
contains ships upgraded from WWI era to 64000-70500 ton displacement; plus a few upgraded what-if designs and WW2 designs, in the 77000t - 84500t range. Should dock size allows, AI built ships will be in 68000-95000 ton range.
Contains beefed up CAs, 10000t+ 8" CLs, and 2000t+ DDs.
Can be used after all nations dock size is larger than 84500ton.
I think this is the most balanced end-game tech setup.
IMPORTANT: do not use these if any AI nation's dock size is smaller than 84500ton. Otherwise the AI auto design process could fail.
e) Folder \Data\IDes\04_TDF 6X_8inCL_11inCA_enl:
"Hard mode". All AI built capital ships are in the 80000ton range, if dock size isn't a limit. BBs are relatively slow so more tonnage for guns and armor for AI. Battles are hazardous and expect DDs to suicide.
Contains beefed up CAs, 10000t+ 8" CLs, and 2000t+ DDs.
Can be used after all nations dock size is larger than 79000ton.
IMPORTANT: do not use these if any AI nation's dock size is smaller than 79000ton. Otherwise the AI auto design process could fail.
Note: AI design process adds 4200t - 10200t to the .tdf design template, if dock size isn't a limit. Displacements in c) d) and e) are chosen so that the AI auto design's sprite size would remain fit to the superstructure drawing in the .tdf.
-edits to accompany the .tdf revamp:
Dock size growth is further slowed, manual dock size build: <=1907: 2000t; >1907: 500t;
Shortened some words on the ship design screen to free up space for more armor thickness selection, as some of the AI ships like the N3 needs a lot of armor. Max B/BE/D/DE/CT/T/TT/SEC is 34/13/12/4/34/35/14/11.5;
Russia and Japan can have nation specific templates (disabled by default for some reason);
AI can auto design 2000-3000 ton DDs (classified as AMC by default);
AI can auto design DDs with sextuple torpedo tubes (illegal by default).
