Yesterday, I was thinking about the after action reports that many of you create and I came up with an interesting idea. Why not use the voice recorder, if you have that app, on your cell phone to record comments during the game, then simply translate them into your AAR. Now this also works for me, when I am reading a book, I have used this idea to comment and record ideas from the book to document. One thing I haven't tried is performing this recording process, on your computer while playing the game. This might be something to investigate. I can do that this weekend. Here is a link that gives some ideas. turbofuture.com/misc/How-to-Record-Audio-for-Video-Game-Commentary

Why would I do that when I couldn't post any of those comments to these forums?

Garrison understands it. That being said I should edit my previous post for better clarity. One word being changed should do it.

I'm trying to cleverly say that I swear a fair bit while playing RTW.

Well, A momentous accomplishment for my game playing finally, no war. Yup, the old guy did it as Japan last night and ended with a prestige level of 40, which is nice but not that important. I ended with a nice fleet, lots of submarines, one battleships, lots of destroyers and cruisers with Southeast Asia all covered nicely. I retired to my Bira near Katsura to live a quiet life.

Wow!!! I have often thought about trying to do that, or making a forum "challenge" like they do KSP side. Well done!! That is quite an accomplishment! oldpop2000 Bravo!

I am an old guy, too. I started playing a Hunt of the Bismark in the 60s, by means of a strange device, which allowed the UK and German players to rapidly transfer their plots under the eyes of an umpire, who decided whether any sighting was made, and so on.
Regarding RTW: how realistic is the knowledge (or ignorance) that the human player has about the ships actually available by the enemies or neutrals? Before or without aerial photo-reconnaissance, it should have been quite difficolt to get information about the secretive, far distant Japanese Navy. On the contrary, it should have been rather easy for Austria to get info about the Italian Navy and viceversa (many AH sailors were native italians).

Actually given most of the early Japanese navy was built in England, knowledge was fairly complete. Additionally Jane's had a mostly accurate guess at every vessel in the world. I can't think of a ship that was grossly wrong in my 1917 Jane's at all, and that covers the whole world. I think RTW does a fair job- you know the tonnage (roughly) of a foreign ship being built, but you don't know the basic stats until she is launched and speeches are made.
The "hiding" the Bismark and Yamato era is towards the "optional end" of the RTW spectrum, so no clue if the Devs plan to include a Fog of War element there when RTW2 rolls out. It might be a viable check-box option at start.

Just thought some actual data might be interesting. Note: my prestige was not exactly 40 but close, it was late. I am not certain that Japan isn't the only nation that you could accomplish this feat with, maybe Spain because I almost made it with Spain. So Pops, you didn't build a DN at all, or were they scrolled off the top? - and my other curiosity, were there any Disarmament Treaties involved in that 25 year run?
