The last stretch.
The year goes for some months with basically no events at all, the most significant one being yet another shipyard growth.
They're building ships for me, I'd like to get them at the end.
Uhhh... my budget is kind of tight, but I'll take it. If nothing else, it's not like that BC is absolutely essential.
Diesel generators are researched.
Quality 1 9'' guns researched. Wow. Such impressed. Very useless.
And finally, the second Uppland cruiser I ordered from Britain is done. All that's in their yards is the battlecruiser.
... and yet another shipyard growth event.
Well, I can spare the money now. Accepted.
Aaaah, who wants another go at me? France, Italy?
And I research a heavy gun at last! Q0 13'' unlocked!
April 1924, industrialisation event. More money for the budget! I accelerate construction of the battlecruiser just because I can. Looks like it will be finished in time for 1926.
Depth charges are unlocked.
That's... one heck of an unholy trinity there. I like it.
Write the date down. It took until now to get decent 12'' guns.
Two consecutive months with a shipyard growth event, and triple torpedo tubes are researched.
The new year of 1925 sees the completion of Sweden's first (and only) battlecruiser. Since now I have the money to spare, send my predreadnoughts to the yard to upgrade their guns and add bulges. It's not like they'll see any more action, and it keeps someone's hands busy.
Germany my bro! Of course! Especially since France is getting uppity again.
Enhanced high explosive filler is researched. A few months later, stable explosive filler is researched as well.
Sure!
Horizontal turbines are researched. The following month, Scouting force follows.
Accepted, as usual.
Slender hull girders are researched.
And the game ends!
Not enough for the big 5-0, but it was a pretty good run.
Quite a few subs and DDs lost, but that was mostly it, apart from the mook- er, auxiliaries.
The alliance with the US and a choice I took on the very last month just because I didn't want to fight a war with France again cut a bit of my budget, but most importantly, it was enough to develop my fleet without any juggling.
Hehe. Well, it was fun, apart from that first war with Italy. I never thought Sweden could snowball like this if given the proper encouragement. It's a real eye-opener on how rapid growth can really improve a nation's standing.
On the tech front, this games was unusual in the way that it was really, really low tech. We're talking about Britain ending the game with only 3 centreline turrets and no superimposed turrets whatsoever. I skipped 3 centreline and went straight to 4... Also, Italian light cruisers with half an inch of armour.
It was... very odd to see so many 'weird' behaviours of the game all at the same time. Still maybe THIS is what a 20% tech game should look like, and not how it usually does when I play.
Well, that's it from me. I hope you guys had a good time laughing at me (or at my opponent's) and my shenanigans. Until a next time, see ya!
