I've been getting this the last several times I've played (SAI 1.6) and I starting to get a bit miffed when I also experienced in the Campaign (1.4). Locks out interaction with the program, although the program continues to run. This occurs after I make changes to course or speed.
Wondering what might be causing this - obviously no one else is posting about it. Since I have to CLT-ALT-DEL to get out, I've got no savegame to share. Have not experienced this problem in previous versions, and have been using the same computer since SAI first came out.
Thanks, Nick

Ditto. SAI Campaign 1.4. Can't get out of it except by Taskmanager and closing the entire game. It also occurs after changes to course and speed, in this case whilst running ultra-fast.

This has to do with the inset view. Could you give any more details about how it started? Does anything else happen or you just get the message?
It might possibly help if you turn off the inset view.

I've experienced same problem
After picking survivors, I come back in charge of my fleet (AI controls it when picking survivors), and I get the error
What's inset view?

It is the little enlarged view of the selected ship you can get in the left corner.

Ok. Will try to remember not to use the inset view. Thanks.

Ok. Will try to remember not to use the inset view. Thanks. This error may also occur if the ship in the inset view is sunk or returns to port. One solution that I have found is to ensure that the selected ship/division's status does not change radically either by selecting a different ship/division or closing the inset view window. Thanks.
