1949, in battle with the Soviets- I finally replaced the Kongo, with the largest ship in the world. Unfortunately, the economic straits caused me to run at 1% research for several years, so no radar fire-control yet, only surface detection. So, first action- of course, night.
The night-time Soviet air attacks are an AI kink to be worked out yet.
Is 12" belt limitation for BC still in game?
I think this was one of worse part of RTW. I am quite suprised how RTW2 would handle this. As time progress battlecruisers merged with battleships and main difference was how ship was used. There were several proposial that players could choose how use their ship which would be best as it would allow some non-standard design (as Courageous). These ships (as Courageous) could be built in RTW however game treat them as standard battlecruiser which kills their usefullness.

It is on our list to allow Fast BBs to take the place of BCs interchangeably after a certain technological advance, but at the moment it is not implemented yet. Therefore if I am going to make a ship that will operate with my BC squadron it has to be a BC, and BCs have a 12" belt limit.
In the finished product the player will not be faced with making this choice. I made the post with the intent of notional entertainment value.

Hi Garrison, Is it possible to make a RTW1 Saved game compatible for RTW2? I have several RTW1 saved game which I liked a lot and I would like to know if it is possible to load them into the RTW2 and proceed.

Mm, I don't know the answer to that, but I would think not. Given the number of changes Fredrik is making I'd be shocked if it worked.
However, that *is* something I can test easily enough within 12 hours or so!

IIRC the 12inch belt limit for BC's only applies to BC's that have 30kn max speed or slower. Yours was 30kn, so only 1kn more ynd you could have uparmored it. Perhaps you would have had the tonnage with 16inch guns....

I'll have to see if that rule is still in place. If it is, I'm a ninny-hammer.

No, there are simply too many changes and additions to convert a RTW save into something that would work for RTW2, so I am afraid that will not happen.

However since "fast" BBs are intended to be able to appear in cruiser missions in place of BCs nothing should be lost to the player.

Well to dot the i and cross the t on this brief recollection before a new game starts with a new alpha, I can report that the Mishima's loss was borne up by the noble servants of the Empire. I had an early lead as the two battleships which sank Mishima were themselves sunk, but then fell behind as I came under blockade. However a pair of successful confrontations off Port Arthur which allowed me to bring in air power from Tsingtao and Korea to join my finally constructed fleet carriers brought the crushing victory I needed. I claimed the Soviets only CV which was both newer and bigger than my 4, along with Port Arthur and Sakhalin. And, mercifully, the economy was strong enough that I was able to complete the expansion of the Navy. Including, building a class off battleships here-to-for unheard of. :] No reason for this ship to exist in 1959, but we wanted to show you that- yes, the 90k tonnage limit is installed.

God damn, this ship is a total Jutland warrior in the late 50th , crazy classic design, mass (tonage)like a fortress, but somehow slow. I am interested on what use does it have (except making a floating target that can shake off almost any beating),

How to sink this monster? It will be difficult to sink her by bombs only and her torpedo protection could be quite extensive.

Monstrocity is a turret farm though which should have a higher percentage chance of going boom in RTW2. Course you have to get through that armor first. Hey, garrisonchisholm, sorry if you have explained this before but what is the significance of the (amidships) tag next to the 20inch belt? Is that related to the new box protection feature? Oh, and what are you doing in-game in 1956? Is that just for play testing purposes or have they already decided to move back the end date?

Hey, garrisonchisholm , sorry if you have explained this before but what is the significance of the (amidships) tag next to the 20inch belt? Is that related to the new box protection feature? The (amidships) disclaimer has been there since RtW1. Pretty sure it's just to signify that the BE may be thinner and IIRC belt armor is implied to thin out the further from the center you go, which can explain how a round with less pen than a belt can occasionally punch through.
