Ok, I am sure 45% of the forum knows the answer to this, but if I knew I have forgotten- and in Sweden Fredrik is likely counting sheep right now. I had an odd glitch happen where when I, as Germany, 'won' the claim colonial possession event for Venezuela, the game responded with an Error and then by removing Venezuela from the map entirely. I logged the bug code and reported it, though Fredrik quipped that that must imply something about my administration skills. However! Venezuela appears to be back now on a reload, but it is neutral, not German. So, without my [edit] seeming too terribly ignorant, would someone be able to advise me how to restore Venezuela to German authority? I know I edited files for my PLC AAR, but my brain seems to have not elected to retain that data... (J.S., you may begin your ridicule now. )

Go to the savegame directory, look for MapData#.DAT where # is replaced by the Arabic numeral corresponding to the save slot, open it with a text editor, search for name=Venezuela, look for the line MapArea#Possession#Owner=Neutral, and change it to MapArea#Possession#Owner=Germany. In Rule the Waves, the Owner line is two lines above the possession name line and Venezuala is MapArea7Possession9 if using an unmodified map file (and, for that matter, probably most modded map files, but if you've moved possessions into other sea zones it might not be), but I don't know about in Rule the Waves 2.

Thank you very much Aeson, that was johnny on the spot.

When I saw the title to this thread I thought it was a discussion about how to lower high unrest.
