I have a question for the devs. In case of a 1920 start (WNT), what happens to Austria-Hungary, German Empire and Russia?
Will we see Yugoslavia, (Weimar) Germany and USSR?

-AH disappear -Russia is replaced by USSR, but this is just a change of flag and name
-Germany are the same Germany only without Kaiser (already possible in RTW 1 after revolution). I've seen suggestion we may see regime change in AI Germany*, possibly also in player Germany as an event?
-Yugoslavia is not possible IMHO. Could be (very weak) custom nation though, like Turkey or Romania. Much weaker than Netherlands or Sweden and a bit stronger than (historical) Poland
I guess there will be just 1 less major player, as I do not see any country that can replace AH. BDW in RTW 1, depending on country, there are different enemies - fe. France cant fight Russia, Italy Japan, or UK AH. Interesting is that if you play Russia, you can go to war with France but not Italy.
So with 1 less major power everybody will be able to fight all remaining powers.
*I do not think Germany will start with IIIrd Reich flag we saw in some screens in 1920, but will get it later through event.

That might only happen if the optional "Treaty of Versailles in effect" is selected. Otherwise, the 1900-1920 period may be implied to have been rather quiet, with WWI not occurring.

I could see the Netherlands supplanting A-H in a 1920 start. They had some pretty pioneering technology in the 1930-1950 timeframe, interesting BB/BC plans and were an aircraft carrier Navy in/after WWII. Netherlands or Canada(Third largest navy at the end of WWII) would make sense. The chaos option would be canonizing the china mod.

Canada would make the most sense in my opinion.

...Canada(Third largest navy at the end of WWII) would make sense. Somehow I don't think that the Canadian navy was larger than the Soviet Navy at any time. At the end of WW2 (VJ Day) the Soviets had more than 250,000 naval personnel compared to the Canadians less than 100,000. They had a separate naval air force with more than 2,500 aircraft, and many more heavy warships of cruiser and battleship size. By 1946, the French had more ships and personnel than the Canadians. If we are going to replace a nation in 1920 I'd go with the Netherlands for worldwide scenarios, maybe China or Sweden as minor powers in regional scenarios. Edit: Here is an article that looks at the question of third-place RCN... Was the RCN ever the Third Largest Navy?

Netherlands is the safe option. Greece also deserves a mention, as does Argentina, Brazil and even Spain to some extent.
PS. China number one?

If you're playing as Germany in a 1920 match, expect the UK, France, Italy, USSR, Japan and America as the other nations.

I was thinking that you could have some variety of games. The standard superpowers scenario (UK, Germany, US, France, Italy, Japan, and Russia) Regional scenarios:- Far East - UK, US, Japan, Russia, France, China, Netherlands
- Mediterranean - UK, France, Italy, AH, Turkey, Spain, Greece
- Baltic - UK, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark
- South America - US, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Chile
This would give some replayability, especially for those people that like the smaller nations. Of course, this is assuming that the map would support such scenarios.

The idea is interesting, but unlikely given the limitations of the current map. DLC perhaps?

The idea is interesting, but unlikely given the limitations of the current map. DLC perhaps? the global map does not need to change it all, just all opponents nations to the player will happen to be clustered around one area. There is still works involving making missions for each faction but this is entirely doable at least within frames of rtw1. That said, it’s probably best left as an update or even to the modding community.
