The March from Paul Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis, conducted by the composer and performed by the Berlin Philharmonic. Those chords! Those HORNS! Wait for the shift to major key in the last 90 seconds - it's glorious! www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpxVGaq5TBIJohn Williams owes this man royalties.

Wait for the shift to major key - it's glorious! This piece was written in 1943 based on themes by Carl Maria Von Weber. It uses a romantic period orchestra. It is great but difficult to play. The key change isn't a big bother.

It's the shift from the minor to major that means so much to me - it's the sun coming out after a long gray day.

I enjoy some sea shanties when playing RTW1, from bands like Pirates for Sail, songs like Spanish Ladies and the Derelict. Nothing like a beer and some naval war gaming.

I love Mystic Seaport and the shanties they play. Music like "What do you do with drunken sailor". "New York Girls", "Alabama John Cherokee", "Lowlands", "Round the Corner Sally". I like the Robert Shaw Choir. www.contemplator.com/sea/index.html

Obviously, Beethoven's " Variations on 'Rule Britannia'" fit in here perfectly. Besides that, Torchbearer's Jutland-themed concept album " Warnaments" is also a logical choice, although it's actually hardly known.

Sound track from the Victory at Sea series. The soundtracks from Gettysburg, A Bridge too Far, The Final Countdown, Delta Force and The Bridge at Remagen. Add to these the theme from Baa Baa Blacksheep.

I like to bring up the series on YouTube in the background while playing, it really sets the mood.

Add to these the theme from Baa Baa Blacksheep. You are aware that the man, Richard Rodgers, who wrote the sound track to Victory At Sea also wrote music for Broadway with Oscar Hammerstein. In fact, one of the pieces in Victory at Sea was from the 1953 musical Me and Juliet. In Victory at Sea it is named "Under the Southern Cross". It's real name was " No Other Love". I used to love to play concerts with that music. My dad loved the music, but would never watch the series. He used to say "I was there son, I don't need to watch it"

I am not surprised though. I don't know where I got it, but something in my memory says that Victory at Sea won an award for it's music. My 8th grade history teacher used to show episodes in his classroom at lunch. Film! This was before the VCR.

For something a bit different, check out Kantai Collection soundtrack, their preparation and pre-sortie theme are suited for those moments between wars Unfortunately, their battle theme are design for 3-4 min battles so not suitable for the type of battle we usually get in RTW. kancolle.fandom.com/wiki/Music
