Well, I've played this game for a few years now and I've seen my share of DD's doing unusual things. Don't want to know how many times my DD's have torpedoed friendly ships or wouldn't fire because of friends somehow in the way, but today, today was somehow special. Chasing down a couple of unidentified radar targets and a message pops up that one of my DD's has sunk a submarine - during the battle. Rare but not entirely new. I look for the DD's location on the map and not 1 mile away is an icon for one of my submarines. Yep. You guessed it. In the after action report that particular sub is reported "missing". And I'll bet they want to paint a sub silouette on the bridge too.

One reason I've been against World of Warships having subs, which it mistakingly now does, was in this era the subs lacked any effective means to talk to a ship under combat conditions. Even the modern ones consider it risky to operate near friendly ships.

My 18in main battery of my newest 1948 battlecruiser scored such a destructive salvo hit that it destroyed the time. My battle that was supposed to last no more than 1000 minutes lasted only 568 and then proceeded unmeasured due to lack of time, my fleet thus became the first object in the universe that travelled faster than the speed of light, because they made it from Helsink to Gdansk in literally NO time.

x Russian Dreadnoughts dead in 6 minutes to a pair of proto-Scharnhorsts. Apparently they'd been borrowing a bit too much from their UK allies a few years ago...

Historically speaking, the Russians did shave off armor in favor of speed; most of their supposed-BBs are in fact BCs and not over-protected for that. Would be interesting to know what sort of armor those Russian BC were depending on. I'd guess a but thicker than hull-plating LOL.
What was the main caliber of your BCs? You say they are proto-Scharnhorsts, so I'm guessing 11"?

Hmm... ... I see I now have an in-game explanation for why I built so few cruisers for the legacy fleet...

Thought my current IJN game was going poorly having lost my only colonies in the Mediterrean and West Africa. Since then focused on crushing dominance of the South East Asia colonies, buffering up the Indian ocean along with the usual North-east Asia is my sea as much as possible. Outlaying colonies in the North and South Pacific did happen but nothing major.
So...
1952 looked at the alamanc economy info....
My IJN the 3rd largest naval budget in the world! USA first of course, then Germany then me. UK has slightly less budget!
Apparently I was doing better than I thought!

I don't see why. After all, if he's the "new naval secretary," presumably that means the old one had different views.

Recently I played the Netherlands with medium fleet size. I managed to get the first naval treaty right after I finished my 2 first BC in 1909. It lasted until 1914, when Japan tried to get my east indian colonies. After the war in 1915, there was a new treaty: 10" @ 15.000t displacement. For the next 20 years, some AI countries only built CA like France and Germany built Panzerschiff-Style BC, while Britain built some BB in this displacement. In 1935 the USSR started a war against me. Freed from all restrictions, France started to build this Levithian: Although it took them 5 years to build it, this is the biggest ship in the world. When it was finished, the whole british battle fleet had less displacement than this single ship. Now it's 1950 and I'm in war with France. It's still their only BB and they don't have much modern ships. I'm allied with the United Kingdom and together we stand against this monster. Yesterday I had cruiser battle and suprisingly I had two of my new own and a british BB (9x16" @ ~50.000t) together with 3 of my CVs under my command, while France send this ship without escorts to sea. So the Koninklijke Marine of the Netherlands adopted an old tradition of the allied Royal Navy: "If the enemy has a bigger ship than you have, hunt it down with everything you have." So did I: #

graforlok Well done. See, any time it comes down to super weapons of limited quality there is always the risk that the enemy may find a weakness like you did in flying a cluster of X-Wings and Y-Wings on bombing runs for its thermal exhaust port...

(The proto-Scharns had 12" guns, as it happens). At the ranges we were fighting, both sides should have been easily getting through each other's armor, but somehow only the Russian ships got smacked hard for it. *** END REPLY SECTION *** British CVs have been hounding my battle-line for the entirety of the war (the Royal Navy's former battle-line is now a series of rather fetching reefs around the North Sea, while the Luftwaffe was presumably being dicks as usual and retarding the KM's attempts to get actual CVs built), and I think some of my gunners decided to take out their frustration on one rather unfortunate DB. Brandenburg's Captain: "I want every gun we have to fire on that plane."

Freed from all restrictions, France started to build this Levithian: Are you playing with any other mods than NED? I have never seen the AI build anything heavier than about 54,000 !
