Does anyone have a link to the naval budgets of Japan and China in 1900? I'm curious to know because China's naval budget is almost double Japan.

In Japan2 mod, RoC doesnt respond to Asian Mainland tension. Should they?
RoC also does not respond to uprisings in China, nor did it respond to Tension increase for not going along with an international peace conference.

I think that ahistorical is just double that kongxinga As for the naval budgets, Chinese is definitely way overblown. Moreover, the base resources allow you to snowball hilariously fast, and are a bit too high as well. Finally, now that I've thought about it, I don't really believe that China should get a research advantage in Machinery Development. Large pool of manual labour does not translate into technological advancements. I'm afraid I'm not an expert on RoC Navy, but I think you should remove it outright or substitute with something else

What edit do I make to the Nat file to remove the Machinery Development tech? I managed to adjust ROC's budget growth from 2 to 1 and that should better balance it for Japan2. I'm testing it now. I also lowered their starting budget a little. I removed their possession of Northern China form the Nat file and then edited the Data's mapdata Northern China to change it's ownership from Optional to Neutral as well as changed the Value to 12 so it could be invaded or taken and then started and saved the game to be able to open the Save Game's mapdata and edit back Northern China to the ROC. So now it's not a Home Area anymore and the Japanese can take it as they did historically. Complete credit goes to cv10 for that!

What I can’t figure out is why ROC doesn’t respond to tension events in China or the Asian mainland. I’ll get this two events other nations sometimes increase tensions but not ROC. Other tension issues can affect ROC but not those. What setting do I need to change?

I can't exactly give you the line to delete now - you'd have to wait 8 more hours. However, at the top of each nations' sections, you should find some lines akin to "researchadvantage = 15" or similar. It means that the nation has a research advantage in an area corresponding to the number as given in the technologies file. Germany has loads of it. For example, 1 is armour. 15 is electronics, I think. 0 should be machinery, but don't take my word for it. Am I correct in my understanding that at the beggining of the game in your edited version Northern China is still a possesion of China? If so, great work. Southern China was the main power base of the Republic, anyways. Edit.: As for the tensions issue, you can cross-check with the Japanese section and see if you notice something. I will do that too, but it will be a while before I get to do that.

1900 Start Republic of China ROC Custom Nation Hello, After some fiddling, I have created the custom nation the Republic of China (ROC), or Republican/Nationalist China. Nowadays people call it Taiwan, but it is still officially the Republic of China. I know people have previously created Qing China for RTW2, but given the time period of 1900-1955, where for the bulk of that time it was ROC, I've decided to give it a go and create it. The flag used is the Naval Jack of the ROC Navy, which also looks extremely similar to the KMT party flag. Thematically this nation is a sleeping economic Giant, crippled severely at the start. It has a very small industrial base along with several weaknesses (meddling politicians, low education etc) However, it shares the rapid growth rate of the US, and one of its maluses, the undeveloped ship industry, goes away in a decade or two. It starts of with an Autocratic government, but I think I have it set to change to liberal democracy to reflect the relaxation of martial law. Research advantages are Damage Control (due to extremely good damage control in the aftermath of Yalu), and machinery (making up for bad technology by substituting with lots of labor shoveling coal into boilers.), as well as the late game missile technology (alternate history take, justified as the Chinese did invent the first gunpowder based anti ship missile). I had to make up naming conventions for ship types which did not have any ships historically (for example, China only had 2 pre dreadnoughts ever, so I had to make up a naming convention for BBs). For the rest, I pored over the list of Qing modernized naval lists, as well as the KMT list, although several gunship names now do double duty as destroyers. For Airplane manufacturers, I am proud that I went and dug up some original language sources to compile the list. None of it is made up, although at least one is alternate history (The Guangdong Flying Machines Corporation was the brain child of one of China's aviation pioneers, who unfortunately died in a test flight before he could set up the company. And obviously AIDC did not exist in the time period, but could have come early if things went well). I think I did a good job here for immersion, so we won't get the CSA experience of"Southern Star offers a new fighter" since all companies did exist or were on a drawing board. For the set piece missions, look out for a Yalu River rematch at close ranges with Japan. I have this tracked on github here github.com/kongxingagit/rtw2-roc-custom-nation . Go to that link, look at the top right hand side for the green "Download button", then click on "Download zip". I've included a version in this post as well. But please do give feed back. After download, unzip and place the Flag in the Flag folder of the RTW2 installation, and the rest under the Data folder. I hope to standardize the language conventions because currently Wade Giles is mixed with Hanyupinyin, which is not ideal. View Attachmentnice work! I think you partly have me to blame for the mix of wade Giles and pin yin when I did the expanded Qing list back then since I’m only familar with pin yin. However i do have a couple recommendation to changes that I think might be good for the list. 1. For submarines, rather than the suffix we can use the current PRC convention for naming subs after types of dragons, and I have compiled a list back in the rtw1 forum. It’s only around 30ish possible names, but I think it might suffice for most player games, and you are more than welcome to expanded. 2.I’d avoid mixing chinese pronunciation with English in the same ship’s name. Things like Panyang Lake just stick out as odd to me. panyang Hu might be a a better way to write it and players not familar with chinese can still identify the ship by looking for the Hu suffix. 3. Here is a research done by someone else on the naming convention of the prc as proposed in 1945 after reviving many ships as war reparation. It might be a good idea to refer here since they seems to cover classes that aren’t currently in the PRC blog.sina.cn/dpool/blog/s/blog_873ccfb60100ymkr.htmlI’d be glad to help you with compiling this list, however unfortunately I don’t have too much free time these few weeks. But let me know if you need any help with a specific class or section and I’ll do what I can.

In the Data's Mapdata I changed Northern China ownership from Optional to Neutral and changed the Value to 12 so it can be taken as a reward. Maybe add some Base Value to Shanghai as well. When your save is created, go to the SaveX folder's Mapdata and edit Northern China to ROC ownership. This makes it so the Home area is in Southeast Asia and Northern China is a normal Colony and not a Home Area. Yeah, I saw that China had the entry for TroubleRegion=in Korea and I wanted to change that to the asian mainland. I dont ever get any events for korea, so the tension bar rarely moves for China. Japan has TroubleRegion=on the Asian mainland and I changed ROC to that but it didnt help.

I wonder if it would be possible to do with Northern China something like Italy, for example, has with Sardinia - a possession they have at the game start, yet one that is also possible to take in peace deals. Or India for UK, if its value was any lower. You probably figured out the machinery advantage removal on your own, but just in case, the line is Research0Advantage=1 Perhaps lines BKT1=Philippines BKT2=Hong Kong BKT3=Borneo Have something to do with it? It sounds awfully close to a shorthand for BalKan Tensions, as in the event that pops up now and then

griffin01 BKT1,2,3 are for blitz invasion opportunities. I figured out Northern China. Maybe you misread my above post. It's working as a normal colony you can take. But you have to follow the steps I outlined. Yes, thank you on the Research issue. My problem now is tension levels and how to get ROC to respond to 'China' and 'Asian Mainland' tension events.

Well, this is unexpected Yeah, but the question is, can it be set as a normal colony without creating and editing a save? I'll try to look into it and the tension issue

griffin01 Oh, well, if you change the ownership of the Data's Mapdata Northern China to ROC to start, I didn't try that it might work. But the reason I didnt was because that's a Data file and while I'm okay with a few extra neutral colonies on the map, I dont want to start a playthru with ROC owning it unless Im playing Japan which is why I left it Neutral and only edit it after I create a save.

" MapArea4Possession18CAPositions0= MapArea4Possession18CADirections0=180 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions1=1153611E 324057S MapArea4Possession18CADirections1=180 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions2=1305019E 122603S MapArea4Possession18CADirections2=220 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions3=1304347E 122733S MapArea4Possession18CADirections3=280 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions4=1531053E 272700S MapArea4Possession18CADirections4=330 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions5=1531659E 273305S MapArea4Possession18CADirections5=320 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions6=00000E 00000N MapArea4Possession18CADirections6=0 MapArea4Possession18CAPositions7=00000E 00000N MapArea4Possession18CADirections7=0 "
And so on....
I assume it is location for fleet deployment during battle scenario, if it's true, what different between set it here and set it at Warinfo Editor?
