CV 10's Netherlands Mod for RTW II (A Sequel from CV 10's Netherlands Mod for RTW I)
Not to be confused with the excellent work done by jeeweej ! If you want to have both his mod and mine, you will need to change the files for one of our mods to be Netherlands2 or something like that Nation Netherlands State Secretary for the Navy Liberal Democracy Cautious (as IRL) Inconsistent Naval Policy Efficient Shipbuilding Tech Advantage for Oil-Fired Engines (if you owned a bunch of oil-rich regions, you'd find more uses for it too...) Research Advantage for: Submarines Heavier-than-Air (Fokker learned about planes and came home!) Amphibious Ops (Look up how old the Korps Mariniers is! Plenty of time to learn about amphibious ops!)
Ship Names
CVs: Species of Bird
CVLs: Various Mammals and other Animals
B/BB: Monarchs, Province Names, Other Dutch Leaders
BC: Admirals, VOC figures, Colonies

dizzy Will have to look closely into why that is happening. On my todo list. ROC Hotfix, including Hotfix for Japan versus ROC. Here is a new version with 1. Play as ROC in 1920. 2. Using CV10's mod as a base, I've made a few tweaks to better match the scenario title (Convoy attack should reflect Japan attacking ROC, so I've switched the flag for attacker and defender). I've also changed the blockade point to reflect a better point where Japan would hang out to catch Chinese blockade runners. 3. One extra battle for Japan versus ROC, allowing for a Surprise attack on Chinese possessions on war start. 4. ROC ship name fixes, mostly typos. ------------------------- As usual, grab from this post, unzip, place all files into /Data, except for the ROC.bmp file, which goes under /Flag in the Rule the waves 2 directory. Or grab from the repository here using "Download zip" . If you just want to update the Japan files for an existing game, that works as well. Simply add only the new Japan files for now. ------------------------ kongxinga, I've had a glitch pop up, both as ROC and a Japan2 game with the ROC. I get the following message about Shanghai being missing; I have re-installed your updated file, but I must have bungled something. I have attempted no file editing. Do you have a hunch what I might have done?

Is there a set of standardized instructions for Mod install pinned somewhere? I'm interested in either of the Netherlands mods, after I finish my A-H game.

Copy the flag.bmp into the Flags files, copy the other files into the Data file (but make sure to save copies of the original map, as you'll need that to update the game)

Simply add only the new Japan files for now. ------------------------ As for the Naval Jack sources, wikipedia was my main source, although the authority on the subject, the ROC navy, has a page (in chinese ) here that explains the situation. In short, the Blue Sky White Sun flag was used 17 years before the 1911 revolution. In 1906, Dr. Sun Yat Sen suggested using that as the base and adding more red to represent the blood of dead revolutionaries, thus creating the Blue Sky White Sun and whole Red Earth flag. The Navy used the one with Red as its Banner in 1910, but later this was switched, with the Navy using the Blue Sky White Sun as Naval Jack (which we use here), and the other flag became the emblem of the ROC (the country). I will share some of the Aircraft design bureau sources once I have that compiled. What is this Northern China fix that everyone is talking about? If I read this correctly, there might be some want for Northern China area to be able to be occupied. Main fix would be to remove the possession for China, and then some editing of the Base game files (likely MapData1900 and mapdata1920) to make Northern China appear as a conquerable province. Northern China is a special province that appears on the map once a Custom Nation is defined to own it, but does not otherwise. BE AWARE, this mapdata changes affect your base game, so keep backups! The historical budget of the ROC is 24,000 in this version, surely this is an error? Great mod, this elevates playing in the far east to a whole new level!

1900 Start Republic of China ROC Custom Nation Hello, After some fiddling, I have created the custom nation the Republic of China (ROC), or Republican/Nationalist China. Nowadays people call it Taiwan, but it is still officially the Republic of China. I know people have previously created Qing China for RTW2, but given the time period of 1900-1955, where for the bulk of that time it was ROC, I've decided to give it a go and create it. The flag used is the Naval Jack of the ROC Navy, which also looks extremely similar to the KMT party flag. Thematically this nation is a sleeping economic Giant, crippled severely at the start. It has a very small industrial base along with several weaknesses (meddling politicians, low education etc) However, it shares the rapid growth rate of the US, and one of its maluses, the undeveloped ship industry, goes away in a decade or two. It starts of with an Autocratic government, but I think I have it set to change to liberal democracy to reflect the relaxation of martial law. Research advantages are Damage Control (due to extremely good damage control in the aftermath of Yalu), and machinery (making up for bad technology by substituting with lots of labor shoveling coal into boilers.), as well as the late game missile technology (alternate history take, justified as the Chinese did invent the first gunpowder based anti ship missile). I had to make up naming conventions for ship types which did not have any ships historically (for example, China only had 2 pre dreadnoughts ever, so I had to make up a naming convention for BBs). For the rest, I pored over the list of Qing modernized naval lists, as well as the KMT list, although several gunship names now do double duty as destroyers. For Airplane manufacturers, I am proud that I went and dug up some original language sources to compile the list. None of it is made up, although at least one is alternate history (The Guangdong Flying Machines Corporation was the brain child of one of China's aviation pioneers, who unfortunately died in a test flight before he could set up the company. And obviously AIDC did not exist in the time period, but could have come early if things went well). I think I did a good job here for immersion, so we won't get the CSA experience of"Southern Star offers a new fighter" since all companies did exist or were on a drawing board. For the set piece missions, look out for a Yalu River rematch at close ranges with Japan. I have this tracked on github here github.com/kongxingagit/rtw2-roc-custom-nation . Go to that link, look at the top right hand side for the green "Download button", then click on "Download zip". I've included a version in this post as well. But please do give feed back. After download, unzip and place the Flag in the Flag folder of the RTW2 installation, and the rest under the Data folder. I hope to standardize the language conventions because currently Wade Giles is mixed with Hanyupinyin, which is not ideal. Awesome, I was wanting to try that out!

I have created a custom nation, but do not know how to make it available for download. There are a number of different ways you can upload it. I use a zip program to create a zip file with the mod files in them. You can then upload the zip as an attachment to a post in this thread.

I present to you an oddball nation: Yugoslavia!
Nation is modified in such way to allow for Communist, Fascist, and Republican coups to take place. If you do run the country into a coup, it will most often roll a Communist coup. Dock size available at start to Yugoslavia is 26000 tons, in accordance to 24500 ton Ersatz Monarch class, that was started by Austria-Hungary. Best gun available is therefore also the 14in of 0 quality, since the new country inherited the Skoda 350 mm guns that were to arm the Ersatz Monarch. Ship industry is undeveloped, because a break up of a country tends to do that. Free technologies Yugoslavia gets are mostly based on its preference for light warfare and extremely large destroyers early on. Advantage in aircraft design is based on a relatively large number of manufacturers that, aside from assembling modern, state of the art designs, also managed to produce a few notable aircraft of exceptional quality themselves.
In short, this would allow you to make life miserable for Italy even after 1920; as this is basically a poorer successor of Austria-Hungary, but equally as rich in torpedoes.
Cheers,

Keep in mind that none of the ships from that class were ever laid down, and while Yugoslavia did get one Tegetthoff-class battleship, having such a vessel does not translate into being able to build such ships on your own. Fiume, where Szent Istvan was build, was also under jurisdiction of Italy, if I recall correctly, so docks used to build that ship are not available, either. The dock size should be, therefore, much lower. I think that the guns make more sense, although Yugoslavia wouldn't have domestic access to Skoda works where the guns were produced, so they would probably only be able to produce inferior copies.

2. Italy got Istria in late 1920, by the treaty of Rapallo (technically, that happens after the 1920 start, and isn't therefore strictly necessary to happen).
3. since 1920, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Romania became members of the Little Entente.
4. it is too hot to live, and I was bored.
I do wonder if it is possible to pre-aggravate Italy? There exists a "friend" option, but is there an "enemy" option too?

Hey everyone, I found my old Swedish Ship Names file. Releasing it here for anyone to use as you see fit, hopefully in a RTW2 Swedo-mod Ie. you don't need to credit me and you can use or edit it anyway you want. Just happy if it is enjoyed.
