How do you create a custom nation? Or is there a tutorial or instruction document out there somewhere?

This thread is indeed full of questions. Not so full of answers so far....
Question: What does the Research#TCL= refer to in the .bcs file? (I think ResearchPoints is the amount of progress, but TCL might be correlated with that)

I believe this is hardcoded, and if you want to change it you'd need to muck around with a hex editor. ResearchPoints is the progress to the next level, yes, but the number in TSL doesn't appear to correlate with it, or with the research level. Numbers for France from the savegame that yemo posted here for the first ten research areas: At a guess, TSL might be something to do with tech sharing, but I haven't looked at the levels/points each power has in each area to see if the TSL number has a correlation to a delta between that particular power's numbers and the worldwide average or anything like that.

aeson I see. So, if I understand correctly, TSL would be a bonus to tech advancement based on other nation's tech?

aeson I see. So, if I understand correctly, TSL would be a bonus to tech advancement based on other nation's tech? I don't know; as I said in the previous post, that's a guess. Based on the numbers in the savegame I looked at, which are shown in the tables above, it doesn't seem like it's cleanly related to either or both of current research level and current progress towards the next research level, and tech sharing seems like the most obvious research-related thing for a research-related acronym with TS in it.

In my recent game this is value of TSL for different areas. The first number is in my game as France (small) in 1916, the second number is UK in 1920 start. Starting in 1900 gives you TSL 0 in all fields.
Machinery: 18/14/
Armour: 10/6
Hull: 26/8
FC: 7/12
Subdivision and DC: 50/12
Turrets: 11/8
Ship design: 4/5
AP: 25/5
I would expect that subdivision and DC is one of less likely to be shared. But in my save game in 1916 it is enourmous.
Machinery: I have all tech up to lvl 9 - year 1912 Armour: up to lvl 6 - year 1912 Hull: up to lvl 8 - year 1911 FC: up to lvl 12 (one tech missing) - year 1912 Subdivision: up to lvl 4 - year 1909 - actual research is skipped several levels and is on lvl 8 Turrets: up to lvl 10 - year 1914 Ship design: up to lvl 12 (three techs missing) - year 1915; there is something strange as counting lvls by number of row does not work as lvl 11 I got was "Efficient hul form", not "AoN". Using number of ID at that field does not work either. AP: up to lvl 5 - year 1910; actual research lvl is 8 (1916)
Note: lvl starts as 0.
I was thinking that TSL is more about how much behind in this field you are but that it is strange as several fields are easily shared as being visible (ship design), others not (subdivision).

Is it possible to mod how long mission last?
Usually times are 500, 800 and 1000. Is it possible to mod it?

dorn is the "Length=###" in the .sac file what you're looking for? (Line ~25)

dorn is the "Length=###" in the .sac file what you're looking for? (Line ~25) While that might do it, it'd be an inconvenient way to do it - since the *.sac file is the scenario save, you'd have to save the scenario, quit the game, edit the *.sac file, and then load the game back up every time you wanted to change the scenario duration.
I'd guess that the scenario duration is hardcoded to the BattleSize variable in the scenario definitions (*WarInfo files and the battle definitions for each possession in MapData), though changing that might also affect a couple other things, like the number of ships that'll show up in the engagement.

I am thinking about changing scenarious, there are not suited for carrier warfare. I am thinking to change starting position to be outside range of carrier aircrafts. But this means I would need increase time for scenario as in early 20s there are either no carriers or scouts only.
Scenario is good for RTW1 but for RTW2 we would need starting distance be adapted by range of aircraft but this is not possible. Playing a lot of missins it seems to me that this is problem for not proper carrier battles and a lot of issue in mission from 30s.

I was wondering how to change bonus tech, I'm trying to make a custom nation and idk where they are. You need to change n00 file for your nation. Add or change line/s: BTLx=ID x ... number from 1 to ... ID ... ID number of technology in ResearchAreas2.dat
eg:
BTL1=605
means cross deck fire
note: chaning original great powers could be done editing BNat1900.dat or BNat1920.dat depending on 1900 vs. 1920 start.
