I installed the 1.02 update and rebooted as instructed afterwards to cement the changes.
Started a new game as Germany, 1900. I go in to adjust the research, as one does at the beginning of a new game of RTW and received only machinery development, armor development, ship design, AP projectiles and naval guns as options to adjust. There was also a second tab with just naval guns, listing out the various calibers.
Am posting this as a separate thread as all the bug threads appear on my screen to be locked.

This may not be a bug after all. I started playing this game and have seen submarines and now torpedoes added to the original list of research tech areas.
I kind of like this...more realistic and also makes one revisit the research screen more often and adjust priorities. I have played many RTW campaigns where I hardly return to readjust research priorities, so this might be a positive development.

Yep, it's not a bug. New research areas will appear when the tech becomes discovered. Though torpedoes and submarine should be in the list at start.

Well, torpedoes and submarines were not...and I was playing Germany, a nation that was somewhat keen on submarines historically.
