We have a lot of birds in our area. Crows, red-tailed hawks, owls, parrots etc. Yesterday, a hawk was flying around the area which makes the crows uneasy. Five of them chased after the hawk, got real close, then the hawk pulled a simply beautiful split S and dive away, then accelerated in the opposite direction leaving the crows in the dust. It was a wonderful example of air combat maneuvering. If you want to learn about ACM, watch the hawks, they are superb at it. If you want to see birds flying together and maneuvering together, watch the parrots, they do it effortlessly. Unfortunately they won't shut up while doing it, noisy little beasts.

Where I live, it´s the season for bird flying South for winter right now. Lots of opportunities to watch huge flocks of birds maneuvering.

We don't live in the flyways of the US, that's generally in the Midwest, we are already south so most of the birds just live here all year long. I'll bet it is really cool to watch the large flocks flying.

Since retiring, we have seen buffaloes up close and personal on the range, elk herds, Kodiak bears about 10 feet from our van, bald eagles flying and many aquatic animal like killer whales in Mystic Fiords, Alaska. It's been a real experience of a lifetime.

One day, you should make the trip to Iguacu waterfalls on the border between Argentina and Brazil. It´s absolutely gorgeous, in the middle of the jungle with plenty of wildlife - coatis, monkey, birds, insects in all shapes, colors and sizes...

Sounds like another place to add to our growing list of trips, thanks. Our next adventure will be either to the Tulip Festival on Mackinac Island in Minnesota(They make great fudge there) or to Carlsbad Caverns and Big Bend National Park. My granddaughter would love the insects, she chases them and collects them in our backyard.
