Similiar to other requests regarding assigning by choice squadrons to the auto search I noticed today we can turn off floatplane auto searching.
This time I lost about 1 squadron of torp planes before a major battle. this was even though at battle start I set it to no search. However, it appears that as soon as you open the search/cap control it sets planes to the default search and when you select no it fails to unassign them back to standby. Mid battle the logic would be tricker but at battle start I can't stop torp planes from flying off in search.

This could be done on the Recon window while setting a search by adding a checkbox to toggle a one stop shop of what type of plane you wish to use. Choices could be:
Floatplanes Fighters Torpedo Bombers Dive Bombers
That would solve the problem of setting a Doctrine for Floatplanes on the Strategic layer and having that affect Recon on turn 0. The Doctrine method is NOT ideal as there are different ships in different fleets with and without floatplanes where you would want that sort of control in the battle window of Recon and not elsewhere.

i wouldn't mind an option for no CV search unless i send one out manually
perhaps checking that option would reverse the current system so in the battle when you go in the search/CAP window the search option is greyed out from the start until you check the box to enable the search

By the time you check the "no search" at battle start the game currently has >already< grabbed X amount of planes for the search pattern. Its more like saying you don't want a repeat of the search pattern.
The other trick Im trying in the meantime is rather than "no search" to narrow the pattern to ~20 degrees that will only consume one plane.
