LOL I wonder how many heads rolled in the Kremlin over that little incident. I'm trying to get my head around the idea that a US fleet commander would send a CG alone into a Soviet task force for "gits and shiggles." I imagine the SIGINT boys would have gotten some very nice tapes out of it though.

Just to note, the shadowing of a Soviet Task Force was a "special assignment" in the Black Sea.
