This is mostly minor stuff, but I'll list off some desired tweaks. Hopefully a few of these can be implemented without being too much work.
1) One of the things that confused me a fair bit when I started was how to make a ship count as a given class. It's tech-dependant, so I can't just look up the rules, and ships sometimes fall through cracks and can't be built as any class. I'd love to see a button we can press beside the ship class drop-down in the designer, which gives us a straightforward list of all requirements for a given ship class. If the designer is too crowded for another button, you could instead have the "This ship doesn't qualify as an XX, re-classify as YY?" popup explain the illegalities.
2) More tooltips and descriptive text would be nice. "AoN" doesn't mean a lot when you're just starting out the demo, the tech is already unlocked, and the marker just appears and disappears on you. Similarly, colonial service was very opaque to me at first. And the warning on short range doesn't really indicate how much of an effect it has in wartime.
3) Several people have requested this already, but I want to see maintenance expenses.
4) The (X,Y) coordinates when drawing superstructure are really not intuitive - 105 is the centreline, really? Can we get (0,0) to be the centre of the ship? It'd help with symmetrical drawing, IMO. Also, when I close off a superstructure drawing by right-clicking, sometimes it shows up on the right side of my ship a pixel lower than the left, which is ugly.
5) A "Generate superstructure" button would be nice. Right now, I need to generate a whole ship and throw away all the hard stats if I want automated superstructure designs, and that's just unwieldy. (This was especially frustrating when I thought you needed to draw closed loops, and wound up with a channel mid-ship on all my designs.)
6) I want to be able to open an old design for comparison without losing my current design. Can we make the designer window non-modal, so we can have multiples?
7) Gun penetration tables only go down to 5000 yards, and I'm not sure why. Can we have them down to 1000, or even 0, yards?
Thanks.
