Hi guys, the other night on the news while I was out at my Inlaws place they did a artical about a old Australian oil refueling tanker being retired which sparked some naval focused chats about family who have served in the Navy. My Mother inlaws father served on the HMNZS Blackpool before retiring and my Father inlaw mentioned that his Grand father served on the HMAS Sydney which one Im not to sure of. After hearing of all these things it imspired me to go hunting for these people and see what histories could be uncovered however I have never tried to navigate the archives before and not a 100% sure of the correct key words to use to help narrow down my search.
In regards to the Blackpool Im mostly looking for pictures of her crew or any other related things. I've got a named to work with for this one and a rank but my mother inlaw doesn't know to much else about what her father did in the navy so im hoping to put together some photos and a bit of background for her.
With the my Father inlaw side all I have to work with at this moment he served on the Sydney, last name of Seymour, was serving before my father in law was born and might have been a CO. I don't believe that he was on the Sydney 2 but could of served on the 3rd. Ive found what I believe was the RAN Officer listing section for the 1950's and haven't found a Seymour serving on the Sydney as of yet however I haven't been able to find a crew manifest yet to look through. Again the goal here is to find pictures and some background which I can put together and show to him.
Cheers for any help anyone can offer me.

Here is a picture of the HMNZS Blackpool Crew - Does this help? www.google.com/search?q=HMNZS+blackpool+crew+pictures&client=firefox-b-1-d&channel=tus&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=nX-qbE-ga2US1M%253A%252Cft9KBvzwwqELiM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kRafpayiRHGSDcdlFgV5QwyaCGFqA&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiB4uLXxO_iAhUpjFQKHWp3AYQQ9QEwAHoECAAQBA#imgrc=nX-qbE-ga2US1M:&vet=1I do not see any person with a last name of Seymour. I have a list of the commanding officers from 1958 to 1970 for the Blackpool and there is no name of Seymour. I am not certain this is the Blackpool that you want.
