for naming my suggestions are perhaps not really historical since looking at the names of WW2 Canadian navy ships they mostly used random Canadian town and city names for all their DD/KE, but they are plausible if the RCN re-organized their ship naming convention in an alternate history
here's a list of Canadian Indigenous tribes that could be used for KE
list of canadian towns for DD
list of Canadian cities for BC/CA/CL - most of these were not cities until more recently but it's a list so why not
the RCN had 3 AMCs named Prince [name] so for KISS could use that naming convention to all AMCs
for capital ships (B/BB/CV/CVL) could use prime ministers (not many by 1900), province names (Newfoundland was Brit until 1949, and Nanavut was created in 1999), and provincial capitals
could also use former Governor General names since the list is HUGE

I really cant be bothered with destroyers... If anyone wants to contribute though I will take it. I can do a destroyer list over the weekend. I can either do towns for DD and indigenous tribes for KE, or mix both for DD and use famous people/village for KE. The second one is more aligned with the modern Canadian scheme, but might not be as intuitive.

It would be nice dude, other then that I seem to be done with the mod for now. The new budget works pretty well, you can even afford a couple of BCs.

So I end up with some free time and decides to just go ahead with the ship's name list. Here is an updated Ship's name list, with the follow changes: BB- Canadian Province, unchanged from OP's version BC- Canadian Territory + Major/Significant First Nations(Expanded on the OP's list with some new ones, Some did not became relevant until later, but I thought to add them for more names) CA- Major Canadian Cities - Moved some smaller cities to CL list, kept some major First Nations on this list as well, maybe I can eventually add minor first nations here as well? CL- Minor Cities, very long list to serve as fall back for CA. (Again some of these aren't cities in 1900, but I felt it be a good idea to have large fallback list for BC/CAs DD- Towns, there are a lot of them, so I focused on towns from several larger provinces, but can add more as needed. I also thought about adding first nations bands, but felt it may be confusing from BCs KE- Villages CVL- Signficant/Flying Animals of Canada CV- Unchanged from UK as with OP Aircraft Manufacturer - I took basically the wiki list of all air craft manufacturer that operated from the 1900-50 period, this does include the Can branch of UK manufacturers, but I thought even if Canada separated from UK it doesn't need to be on bad terms with it, so It should be fine to maintain some UK manufacturer in Canada. -I was very tempted to add modern company like Bombardier and Viking Air lol, but I'll see if the list works for people right now. I briefly sifted through the list to remove some royal/awkward sounding names, but otherwise left most things unchanged from wiki list, so expect some town no present in 1900 to be included. Obvious example being Ajax, named after town of Ajax, which is in turn named after HMS Ajax after the battle of river plate. Which I thought is a very cool piece of history OP can feel free to incorporate this into the Mod and make any change he deem necessary Attachments:CanadaShipNames.dat (10.5 KB)

Woah dude, that was fast, thanks) I’ll check it out once I can Wasn’t too much work since it’s more or less wiki copy/paste with a tiny bit of edit. Glad I could help Have some free time tomorrow so I might also work on it a little bit more to make things a bit more smooth(the DD/KE/CL name list in particular are hard to distinguish once you go through the few well known cities) and maybe add some aircraft names. Let me know what you think of it so far!

Looks pretty legit so far, I like it. If you are gonna change it up though I'll wait on updating it for now.
Also seems like the game cant handle é's and such, at least for me - Métis turns to Métis for me for instance. Maybe replace all non standart symbols with standart ones wlile you're at it?

Sounds good and I’ll got about changing it tomorrow. The issue with language have to do with the way game display doesn’t support other language pack well( see the other thread with attempted Japanese/Chinese character in ship names). In this case tho I think might be easier to just redo all the problematic ones with standard English, since I don’t think much will be lost.

Laffey Chan Here is the updated list. Made following changes - Changed all the é's etc I can find into standard English characters. - Removed Newfoundland/Labrador from BB name list because they are technically british, did not touch Nunavut since it could technically be created at any point. - Added some major geographical regions of Canada in an effort to make the BB list longer - Removed some overly long&awkward name in the CL/DD secion - Added several modern Canadian Aircraft manufacturer, feel free to remove them if you feel they feel off - Added Canadian aircraft names, I also kept the British list, but was tempted to remove some very well known UK aircraft names like Beaufighter, Spitfire, etc... If all goes well I probably will start a Canadian AAR on Canada Day Attachments:CanadaShipNames.dat (10.58 KB)

Hey there, just wanted to mention that I got back into the game and made an update, if there are people interested. Also, wonder if communist or fascist coups make more sense for Canada. Currently they are set to communist, if it even works.

Hi Laffey,
How can I get a copy of the update? I was going to suggest some names that could be added to the list of Canadian ships; I'd even be willing to add them myself and share if someone can detail how to do that.
With regards to coups, we Canadians are pretty peaceful, and I sincerely doubt a coup would stand much of a chance. If we ever built a Yamato sized battleship, it would be named the HMCS Peace and Good Government.

Not sure what you want exactly, the .zip file in the 1st post contains the latest version. Adding new names is no trouble for me, you can post them here, preferably as a document if you have a decent amount of them. Sorry in advance if I take a while to respond.

Yeah I figured out that the new file was the updated one. Silly me. Anyways, I'm attaching my list. Just a brief summary: Canadian Sub Prefix was CC for their first two subs. Added names of Canadian Rivers and Lakes for possible submarine names; also added historical sub names. Added historical Canadian CV names. Added some misc. names that could be used for almost any ship.
