It would be really nice to have the ability to auto-resolve battles. (And more realistic: it's not as if the head of the navy personally commanded every destroyer action). I recently played a game where I was Japan fighting Russia. I destroyed his fleet in two big actions at the start of the war, and thewn had to fight multiple battles where my fleet consisting of multiple battleships, carriers, cruisers, etc were chasing his one or two destroyers round the seas. This was frustrating and boring.

Agreed. That would be an awesome feature!

TortugaPower is actually working on such a mod, though I am not sure if it will be implemented as an additional button in the battle generator. That would be Frederik's job, as William clearly stated we are NOT to tamper with the executable.

I agree completely. The actual battles are not what intrest me. I love designjng the shipd and controling the makeup of the navy.
If you have played the Total War games they have a great tactical combat system but also all2pw you to auto resolve combats as well that is what I would like to see.
I use Tortuguappwers auto resolve and it is a nice stopgap but I would love a built in ability

To aoutoresolve battles and still take all design choices into account would be very difficult, almost a game in itself. What could more easily be done is to have a "no player control" mode where battles were run through AI vs AI at maximum acceleration with no pauses. A battle would still take a couple of minutes or so that way. Would that satisfy the request?
