Just so the rest of you know if you are doing challenge runs of your own you are free to post them here.
So far my "no carriers" game is running quite well.
I got annoyed about constantly being airstruck, so I relaxed the rules on myself a bit and changed it to "CVL are ok so long as they have only fighters upon them".
With that constraint the game is very playable and my lack of carriers isn't a major problem.
Does make for more interesting "late game" battle-line engagement because I'm usually engaging an intact enemy battleline whereas in a game with carriers the enemy fleet has usually suffered a lot before the battleships close the range.
October 1910 War with France has begun, as i wanted.
The lesson learned from this war is that BB/BCs are only really useful for the fleet points they give you and that fleet battles at this stage of the game are near useless. War lasted for 10 months and i got Algeria from them in the peace deal. 1915 War with Britain has begun, i did NOT want this.
My greatest defeat so far, it started as a normal coastal bombardment where i found the target at early at night and destroyed it very quickly with zero resistance, then as we were retreating the enemy BCs showed up with escorts and the rest as they say is history.
Luckily Britain surrendered in 12 months due to unrestricted submarine warfare causing the lost of hundreds of merchant ships. Thank god, they were invading Tanganyika and Libya and i couldn't do anything about it due to them blockading me. Nothings really happened after the war aside from me beginning the replacement of of my Bs to the new Ostfriesland class Battleship.
Some final ship designs.
I plan on converting some of the pre-dreadnoughts into CVLs.

Currently trying a run as Germany where Dock size cannot be manual increased, reliant entirely upon private industry increases. Have only achieved a single 500t boost so far...
Relying heavily on Germanys early armour and location benefits but can see things getting tricky in 5-10 years. Really hoping that I unlock better turret miunts much earlier this time round compared to my main play through.
New run, America-badnoughts lite. The rules- all guns and torpedoes must be in casmates or single turrets, centre line turrets are allowed but only if there is no more room for non-centre line turrets.
I went "war" with japan in 1901 and it has become the most pointless war i have ever been in. 13 months and i only sunk some transport ships and got nothing from peace deals.
Managed to go to war with Russia in 1905 for 13 months with some action but got a compromise peace.
January 1910 It currently appears Japan wants a rematch with there first Dreadnought, well see if i can actually do some damage this time.
Well, i went to war with Japan which lasted 2 months, got nothing.
Sometime 1916 I just finished the longest war i have ever been in thanks to Britain. 22 long and sometimes painful months which started when Britain blew up one of my newest dreadnoughts. In the end i got Jamaica from Britain and Britain got Maine.
I did not even even have to anything in the battle below.
These will replace the 3 Colorado classes
Britain has decided that that war wasn't enough and have started a new one*deep sigh*, right in the middle of refits and replacements as well. I do not like my chances of winning this one.
Well Germany really likes the idea of fighting me cause they did it twice(currently fighting them the second time). First war lasted nearly 40 months when Germany called it quits from fighting for so long. Lost this battle after failing to see the second group of German BCs
Not a lot of new ship designs this decade.
My plan is the next batch of capital ships will be 1 fast BB and 2 CVs with the next BB being the last battleship i ever make. I may attempt to make 34-35 knot BCs with a heavy secondary armament but we'll see.
Finally got a challenge run to 1950. Managed to beat Germany after around 15 months. Japan also went to war with me for 3 months.
Germany apparently really hates me as they have gone to war with me again and I've been curb stomping them ever since.
Behold, the most useless battle I've ever had to do, because not only did the game give me WAY to many ships to fight that CL but i also never even had to fight as it was sunk by my medium bombers. Seriously, talk about overkill.
I could've won this one if my pilots knew what they were doing as i did not lose where he was due to radar.
I was not aware there was a CV in this fight.
I'm going to end this play through when the game has it's end in 1955.
Alright, new challenge run. France-reverse all-forward firepower. the rules- starting from the dreadnought age all ships must have no forward armament. Pre-dreadnought era ships(including refits to them) do not have to worry about this as their main battery firepower is limited enough as is.
Had a war with Britain i did not want that lasted about 12 months due to a compromise peace.
Got a war with Austria-Hungary and had fun scaring their mini battleships and garbage CAs for 13 months before getting their only colony in the peace deal. I still can't believe A-H got dreadnought battleships before me.
Germany's trying to go to war with me now, i can't wait.
Had a very long(21 months) and difficult war with Germany and ended up losing some minor territories and no colony's, also and i forgot to screenshot this but Germany had a budget nearly 100,000 higher than Britain during the war.
How the hell did Italy get a bigger budget than Germany.
