I decided to start a thread dedicated to science. No specific subjects but just good articles for learning and understanding. I minored in Geology and Meteorology but I have always been interested in Astronomy especially ancient, Archeology, Paleontology and others. So, lets all post good intelligent articles and enjoy. I am going to post sites like the USGS site and others for reference. First article - www.livescience.com/65968-earth-leaky-core.htmlFirst Link - www.usgs.gov/ - This site gives you information about many geologic events including earthquakes. It is very important for those of us who are within a 100 miles of the San Andreas. Second Link - www.nhc.noaa.gov/ - This is NOAA's National Hurricane Center page. This is critical for people around the world who live near hurricane areas especially southern US.

This isn't about science but it might be useful to many of you to assist in tweaking your Windows versions. I can't guarantee but it might help you with some of the issues with RTW and RTW2. www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html

I've created a PDF on Perfmon commands to aid all of you when you have error messages in RTW or RTW2. Just use the command, gather the data and then provide it to the team. I will repeat what I've said, if you cannot duplicate a problem, you cannot fix it. So, help the team with data from this command and pictures of the messages and the area of the game where the error message occurred. Perfmon.pdf (85.68 KB)

This entry is an anniversary. In August 1883, specifically the 26th and the 27th, Krakatoa, a volcano in the Sunda Straits between Java and Sumatra erupted. The estimates are that more than 36,000 people were killed in the eruption. The volcano is a result of subduction of the Indo-Australian plate in its northward movement towards the mainland of Asia. www.livescience.com/28186-krakatoa.html

The newest update from the NHC, is that Hurricane Dorian is now a category 4 system. This means wind speeds near the eye of around 140 MPH. If the wind speed reaches 155 MPH, it will be a Cat 5. She is now moving West and slowing down which means more time over the warm Gulf Stream which will strengthen her. Now, a hurricane is the worst case of a tropical cyclone. Tropical cyclones are simply low pressure areas that have thunderstorms and the air rotates counterclockwise and rises as it does. The worst effects will probably the storm surge near the coast and the winds, plus the large amounts of rainfall which will flood and overflow rivers. Florida is a nearly flat peninsula, so this means trouble.

This is the first day of autumn, comely known as the Autumnal Equinox. The date of this passage of the sun across the celestial equator varies from year to year. Next year it will be on the 22nd of September. Here is an explanation for all of us. www.livescience.com/autumnal-equinox-september-2019.html
