... you know a game is too easy when bored players start inventing their own challenges ... I think it is more about trying new things. In one of my games Germany AI commissioned battleship in 1917 with 16.5" belt armour. As Italy I will never fight this ship but I would not try to sink her by gunfire only. There are certainly easy games but if you choose France or Italy and start war with Royal Navy, it would be never easy with historical resources. If you like challange, just do not build much larger battleships than opponents.

If you like challange, just do not build much larger battleships than opponents. The other option is to try playing Spain, without relying on foreign builds. The most recent game,my first dreadnought didn't hit the sea until 1910, and it was a terrible 6x12" configuration.
