Ok, I accept this isn't exactly high priority, but I guess I'll put it out there anyway.
So, the Hull Classification Symbols (HCS for the rest of this post, for ease of reference) in this game are clearly based on the HCS system used historically by the US navy (B for pre-dread, CA for armoured/heavy cruiser, etc). As a result, I feel like I need to point out that some of the HCS used in the game are incorrect.
KE: This was never used for "corvette." "K" was used, but I think "FS" would fit better with the intended role of the corvette in-game (FS is a coastal patrol corvette). Alternatively, use "FF" (frigate); this is, IMO, the best option. "PF" would also be suitable (this was the classification the US used for ships like the British River-class).
DD: Correct, doesn't need changing.
CL: Use of this for light cruisers is correct. Protected cruisers should be "C."
CA: Correct, doesn't need changing.
BC: Was never used in the US navy for anything. "CC" was suggested, but, since the USN never actually had any battlecruisers, so we'll never know what would have been used. I'd say, leave it as "BC" to avoid confusion with the more modern "command ship."
B and BB: B technically refers to any battleship built before 1920, including dreadnaughts. To simplify things in game, I'd leave this as-is.
CV and CVL: Correct, doesn't need changing. Perhaps add CVE for escort carriers if any way to differentiate between them and light carriers is ever added.
AV: Correct, doesn't need changing. Possibly add "AVD" or "AVP" for small tenders; probably unnecessary.
SS: Correct, doesn't need changing.
SSM: This was used historically for midget submarines. Submarine Minelayer was "SM."
SSC: Probably correct; if in-game coastal subs are considered to be under 150t, should be SSM (probably leave as SSC to avoid confusion with sub minelayers).
TR: This is probably the worst offender. "TR" was never used historically. "AK" is a cargo ship. "TK" for a tanker. "AP" for a troop transport. "APA" (attack transport) and the various landing ship HCS (LST, LSH, LSM, etc) may also be suitable for the ships used in invasion missions.
I realise this is about as low-priority as you can get, and I honestly don't care if it stays as-is forever. I just thought I'd put it out there and see if anyone bites.
