Hello, I have a question but can't find previous threads for it. When I search "font size" it ends up finding threads with the word "size" in them, when I enter "font" it goes completely off tangent and finds eg. thread about destroyer escorts.
Anyhow, is there a way to adjust letter font size and UI size in the game? My eyesight is not so good, and I'd like to get a better view of the text.

I too would like to know this, just a few tweeks would help me eminently with the GUI.

This my pet subject, I bought the game on the first day, but I'd be lucky if i have played more than 4 or 5 hours. It's not just just font, but the white background. This was discussed several times on the forum in the pre release stage. It's a bit sad nothing has been done to fix or to give an option to change font or background colour. What is more disappointing is either William or Fredrik has poor eyesight ( can't remember which one it is)

What is more disappointing is either William or Fredrik has poor eyesight ( can't remember which one it is) If you need to change the background colors of the RTW2 UI you can use a third party program that allows you to easily adjust the UI colors in Windows 10. It is called "Classic Color Panel" and can be found here: www.wintools.info/index.php/downloadThis program works by updating your registry so there is some risk involved, but the modification process is automated so you're not actually in there mucking around manually changing registry values. It's also quite easy to restore the default windows colors. I have used it without issues. Of course, you are changing the UI colors for all of Windows 10, not just the colors in the game, so keep that in mind. The program will also let you set the color for various fonts so you could either change the background color or you could change the font color (to a dark gray) to reduce the amount of contrast. I've experimented a bit with this program and experienced no issues. The program lets you back up your current color settings and will also restore all to the Windows default colors with a single click. The image below shows the specific color selections that affect the two largest chunks of UI real estate in RTW2. Other colors that might also need adjustment are ButtonHighlight and ButtonShadow but it's quite easy to experiment with the UI colors and quite easy to recover from a disastrous selection. In the image below I I've changed the default "Window" colors to a light green and the "ButtonFace" value to a light blue. This program is not associated in any way with NWS and this is not a recommendation for use from NWS, but personally, I found it quite useful.

What is more disappointing is either William or Fredrik has poor eyesight ( can't remember which one it is) RTW just uses Windows's vanilla drawing routines (or some library that uses those routines, not being with NWS I don't know which, but it's obvious from the look of the interface that it's Windows routines drawing the UI at the end of the day), so without a total rewrite, it's limited to the theming options imposed by the OS. Unfortunately, that is much more constrained these days than it was on XP and earlier (at least in terms of what Windows exposes to the user out-of-the-box. The UI seems to still be capable of themability, and the settings for it still seem to be hidden in the registry, from the application jwsmith recommended). [rant]Back in the XP days, the options available for theming the UI colors of Windows, and by extension any apps that used its default drawing routines, were almost limitless. These days, they keep a bit of that around in the high contrast settings for accessibility (right click on the desktop, click "personalize", scroll down to "Related settings", then click "high contrast"), but for the most part they concentrate on having Windows project their brand image, rather than letting the user brand (or accessibilize) their own desktop how they want to. And the theming that *is* available is mostly made available via programming interfaces for app developers to stamp their own brand on their apps (I'm looking at *you*, Steam. ). And it's not just Microsoft, but the entire industry. Apple's been doing as long as they've been selling Macs, and the GNOME project on Linux has made a lot of people mad by hobbling GNOME 3 themability, and even worse, their graphics library is used by several other desktop environments, so they've hobbled those as well. Fortunately, on Linux you aren't just locked into one desktop, but none of the others are quite as good as GNOME was. But whether you want to theme your desktop for aesthetics or for minimizing eye-strain, you have a lot fewer options, across platforms, than you did 20 years ago, or even 10. It's corporate marketing departments, not users, that determine the way that the user's desktop looks.[/rant] That said, jwsmith's link looks promising as a means of remedying your problem. I had assumed that Microsoft had removed the back-end support for that kind of theming when they removed the front-end, like certain other platforms have done, but it looks like it's still there.

Combined with the font size change fix on THIS post, I am able to easily see the game without any eyestrain. I just changed the 2 you mentioned with some sepia colors that darkened the screen. Changed some border highlighting colors a bit too. Great tool, easy to use and makes this game much more enjoyable. tortugapower I hope you change your settings because I quit watching your series a while back because the youtube screen was blisteringly bright. Hope you tone it down. A basic version of what this program does should be part of the UI color customization of RTW2. I hope it gets included... Fredrik W Edit: This Thread should be stickied.
