Gave a quick Battlecarrier build a go but the ship turning itself into the wind and not holding lines made it more of a liability than a help.
Might try again once better techs come I to play.

Reposting from Discord... This must be the most impractical design I've ever seen. Every, everything is baffling about it. The unnecessary 6 inch guns are a nice touch. Though I don't know if anything in this design is really necessary, aside from (I hope) ample lifeboats.

Well i hated the idea of battle carriers until i started playing this game and couldnt get cap on my battleships. So necessity is a mother its true, so i made some baby battle carriers to accompany my BB's yes they are cheated, but I am understandably curious to see if they are viable and solve the games cap issue for me or are just white elephant useless tonnage targets as i suspect.
Built along cvl lines they have 33 fighters and 4 triple 5 inch turrets and armor about like a cl would, with a high speed, cheated and experimental as i said sincenthenship designer wont allowmus to build one as i wantnit i dont think. i dont care if they fight only that they provide cap and are survivable, so we will see.
I do see the attraction of a one platform does all design but personally i know specialization is the real way to succeed in battle. And as mentioned carriers and BB have different opposite design requirements and carriers are ridiculously juicy targets that should never get in gun range. But lets try and reinvent the wheel shall we? Lol.
Anyone else get this to work yet or what?

[fighter pilot hat] Well, *I'm* not going to try landing on that thing! [/fighter pilot hat] I'm afraid that's entirely out of character for a fighter pilot. A real hotshot pilot would want the elevators in the down position before he'd feel truly tested. Also, the design is sliiiightly less insane if you assume the fore and aft guns are placed below the flight deck, which can telescope retract during surface engagements. I mean, yeah, fighter pilots are hotshots, but I'm not sure they'd want to land on something like that routinely. Once, or a few times, to prove how good they are and how big certain of their anatomical features are? Sure. But once it becomes routine and it's boring *and* dangerous? I think they're saner than that. So maybe not "I'm not going to try landing on that thing", but certainly "I don't want to serve on that ship".

Why would you need to cheat anything if you just want a CVL with 12x 5" guns? You could just straight up design that. You can't put main battery 5" triple turrets in wing positions, so presumably it was to get the 5" guns onto the centerline where triple turrets are legal.

Got it in one.
The triple 5's, are in wing mounts along the flight deck edges.. Modified an existing cvl since i was gonna scrap em and replace with CV.
I am underwhelmed by the platform and its performance so far.
Oh maybe I just need a Grosser Goering or a Schwere Hermann?
Probably operator error.

Do you have all the tech you'd need to build the ship? That could be the cause.

This is what i'm trying to make it has 32 aircraft. That should work if you hit the save design button and choose no in the "not a cvl" the dialogue. But I haven't tried that yet in 1.08. Coud the enabling bug have been "stealth healed"?
