Enemy couldnt muster enough strength... invasion battle didnt start and returned me to the map - with no invasion completed. Still waiting to invade.
Same nothing, goose egg happens when the enemy declines invasion battles... no invasion. Thought this was fixed?

I always get a trigger if they decline, it's just when the battle fails to generate because they have insufficient forces that it doesn't work out for me.
I do get some invasion battles in areas I'm not trying to invade that don't seem to have any result though. I can get all the transports to the objective, sink every enemy ship, still get nothing. Meanwhile the invasion I have had selected in the same sea area for 8-14 months refuses to trigger... The failure of the invasion battle triggering because the enemy has insufficient forces is infuriating when I have spent a year getting delays due to uncertain margin of superiority and the balance hasn't changed.

Well, the whole point of Invasions, I think, is to have one. Otherwise, don't have that mission. Right?

I think they need to get rid of the 'margin of superiority' check. It's broken and unnecessary. Let me be foolish if I want. I certainly want the option to say "You will attack (DAMN YOU!!!), or I will have you shot for cowardice"
Edit-I'm thinking the best fix for the uncertain margin would be to pop a dialogue up with options to postpone or force the invasion. Forcing the invasion would cost prestige, and if the invasion battle subsequently failed it would cost more prestige and increase unrest.

I'm happy with the way it 'almost' works. hehe. I understand you want supremacy gone, but I dont cuz it's a two way street. I dont want my colonies getting invaded if I can keep them at bay with a token force till I can mobilize a real naval response.
I think invasion missions should not trigger unless one is ready to happen and the outcome depends on what happens in the battle. I dont want to see invasions missions with no consequence. So lets not use invasion missions and cry wolf here.
I'm also happy with their invasion notices of delays, bad weather, supremacy etc. Let's me know it's not buggered up and still might happen. Just dont want invasion missions jerking my chain and getting my hopes up for nothing.
I agree with forcing the invasion... I think that's a good suggestion and you should put it on the suggestion page. Costing prestige and unrest if it fails is a good idea.

The margin delays would be ok, if they made sense. When you have 20x the naval power in the area it's very frustrating. I can't get a real invasion battle (on my planned invasions anyway) because if the enemy has enough units to fight a battle it gets delayed. Almost every place I successfully invade happens because they decline, if they don't decline battle I get hosed by the generator throwing it out for insufficient forces without triggering the invasion.
The margin checking doesn't seem to be balanced properly. I am constantly getting messages about being dominated by enemy forces in areas that we have virtual parity in as well. The AI seems to get a scaling bonus.

This is what I am talking about. How is 166-10 an uncertain margin? And it isn't just on occasion. It's every damn month.

That shouldnt happen every month. How long has it gone on for? I thought they fixed this.
