currently as far as i am aware (and as far as i have read in the manual) there is no increased chance for CVL and CV to catch fire due to av-gas leaks
while the chance for a cv or cvl being set on fire dramatically increases when it has ready planes on deck it does NOT seem to be passively increased over other ships despite the fact they carry what amounts to insane amounts of aviation gasoline
i know ships which carry FLOATPLANES and catapults have increased chances to catch on fire the more planes they have but its not mentioned anywhere carriers have increased combustion chances so to say
suggestion make CVL and CV have a much higher chance of catching on fire when their av-gas tanks are hit (which could be a new damage type) example is a torpedo hits and causes av-gas tank to leak and catch fire (large fire is caused) or shell penetrates av-gas tank and ignites or bomb penetrates av-gas tank and ignites
it is also entirely possible the av-gas tank is just punctured which means subsequent bombs and he shells could set it alight until the leak is fixed which would take a short while and would take less time depending on damage control level)
av-gas tanks would be considered part of the carriers citadel so magazine protection would cover it and so would AON but they would still be vulnerable to torpedo hits causing leaks and fires (TAIHO as an example)
to me it would make sense that for every 1 plane added to the carrier the chance of catching fire over normal ships would be 0.5% higher
so a 34 plane cvl would have a 17% higher chance to catch fire than a normal ship (assuming all ships have the same fire chances) if they dont CVL would use heavy cruisers fire chance and CV battleship fire chance as their base starting points
a 100 plane carrier would have a 50% higher chance than a battleship to be set on fire
this is a passive thing unlike the readying of airplanes increasing fire chance so the 50% higher chance for a 100 plane carrier to be set on fire will always be there while the ready plane fire chance is only when ready planes are on deck
(the more sorties launched would not mean less fire chance because fumes still remain in the av-gas tanks even if they are basically empty as such the base fire chance would remain the same)
(i havent actually had one of my carriers been set on fire by an enemy airstrike yet nor have one sink to fires despite the fact carriers sinking to fires turned out to be quite common)
