Can someone please tell me what navies are included in the RJW battle generator? I assume that you can create Japan v Russia. Any other nations?
I was going to buy RJW last weekend, but real life intervened and I spent very little time online.

I bought SAI and later RJW. In my case, by accessing RJW, the SAI scenarios also appear and I can generate battles between any fleet of the period. The same is true for the campaigns, which are by far the most interesting part of these games.

You can create your own battle generator files easily enough. They are the files using file extension *.qbf. Open one of these using a text editor (I use Word Pad) and copy the format adding your own duration, belligerents and time lines. I have added so many new battle options that I no longer recall what shipped with the game. Sorry.

I'm sorry, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. Where are the ".qbf" files located? If I was playing RJW and wanted to, say, generate a battle between the USA and GB in 1900, how would you do that? Or Italy and GB, or France and Italy, or even GB and Japan? Also, I notice that the folders of SAI-RJW and the original SAI contain "water sounds." How do you get those sounds in-game? The demo for RTW2 has water sounds in-game.

Hmmm. I have found one qbf file inside the custom folder in RJW. It appears to be for the Spanish-American War. But there is so much *stuff* inside it that seems to be only for that war. I would not know what to put inside a US v GB battle generator.

And another question: is there a collection of ship pictures somewhere? Not the top down game images, but pictures. I have searched the forum but found nothing.

Thanks Randomiser for the above answer. It solved my problem, of getting my newly created ship, Libia, into the Adriatic random Battle Generator. Now I just have to figure out how customise my own scenario!.

You might start by customizing existing scenarios to get familiar with the Scenario Editor.
Be aware that the Scenario Editor is not particularly intuitive or user friendly and creating a scenario is a non-linear process. That is to say there is no easy "Do A, then B, then C, then D" and you're done but with all of that, scenario building can be fun and educational. Start small and use the lessons learned to eventually create your own Jutland and Tsushima. The ability to create your own designs means that the variety for potential SAI scenarios from between 1900-1920 is essentially limitless.
There's help here at need. Good Luck and Good Shooting.

Thanks Randomiser. I actually 'finished' creating my own scenario, (my first ever) a couple of hours ago, or so I thought!!. Spent the last one and a half hours trying to get it to run properly. Gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Solved a couple of problems, but the one that will not go away is - the warning that some ships have only 50% fuel followed immediately after that that they only have 20% fuel. So they will only crawl at 5 knots. I have set fuel to 100% for all ships repeatedly but still get the message. It happens to both sides. Somehow the British destroyer force has 117% fuel!, it's not coal in sacks on the deck because they are oil fired ships!!!!. :-) So when I saw that I even tried putting in 120% but to no avail. I just don't know what to do now, very frustrating and seemingly a whole waste of my time and effort. I followed the manual, which is a bit vague, step by step. But I feel that there should be a proper tutorial for this.

One technique that usually fixes the fuel bug and that I always use before running a custom scenario for the first time.
- After completing the scenario, exit the Scenario Editor - Restart the Scenario Editor. - Open the scenario - From the OOB window right click on first ship - Select Edit - From the Edit Ship Window physically enter 100 for fuel, do NOT use the increase/decrease arrow. Best way to do this is to highlight and overwrite any value present in the fuel window - Click OK - Repeat for ALL ships - Save scenario and close.
When next you run the scenario in the game, all ships should have 100% fuel. This fix has been posted in the Forum before but I would not hold my breath waiting for a scenario editor tutorial. If that doesn't work, post the scenario here and I will see if I can help.

Tried the fuel tip as you suggested, but found that ships on both sides had 50% / 20% fuel. So I'm attaching here for you to have a look at. I really appreciate your help, thanks. As this is driving me crazy!!.

Well everything should have fuel now. I had to edit the layers to get the scenario to open so you might have to tweak those settings if necessary. For some reason the two British cruisers needed individual attention but have no idea why. -C Defence of a Convoy.zip (2.02 KB)
