I am enclosing here a completely new campaign around the naval war in the Mediterranean theatre.
This campaign is based on a counterfactual history of the First World War.
It is assumed that in August 1914 war breaks out between the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy) and the Entente between France and United Kingdom.
For the Entente the order of battle corresponds to the effective disposition of the French fleet and of the British Mediterranean Fleet on August 1st 1914. For the Triple Alliance the order of battle corresponds to the Naval Agreements signed in 1913 by the three admiralties.
Turkey remains neutral, but closes the Dardanelles Strait, so that the Russian fleet is unable to participate in the Mediterranean war operations.
On land and in other theatres of naval warfare, offensives and battles take place almost as they did during the First World War, but with some important differences.
The Russians are not defeated at Tannenberg, nor in the further developments of the war on the eastern front.
On the western front in France the war turns into a bloody trench warfare without decisive advantages for either side.
In winter 1914-15 a Russian counteroffensive drives back the Austrians.
Following these setbacks the Austrians secretely start peace talks with the Entente.
An Italian offensive on the Alps front is delayed by winter and subsequently fails with heavy losses.
The feeble popular support to the war vanishes and Italy seeks for a separate armistice, that is soon followed by general peace talks.
The war ends on December 31st 1915 without victors or vanquished, apart the naval war in the Mediterranean, that is up to you to win.
Thank you in advance for any error or improvement advice.
Thanks to bcoopactual for having kindly designed a great flag for the Triple Alliance.
