Hello all! I had a question on torpedoes. I am playing a game as Spain and my little navy managed to defeat the juggernaut Royal Navy after a 3 year war. They outnumbered me 5-1 in battleships so I had to try a different tactic. I made a destroyer with 4 torpedo launchers and managed to sink 5 British battleships over the course of the war. The final battle that finally made Britain cave in to demands I sunk their new 'Rodney' class battleship. She took 4 fish before she went down. After the celebrations of victory and the King himself awarding me the title of Grand Admiral and naming me Hero of the Empire, my naval budget was slashed to such abysmal levels I can't see myself competing with the Royal Navy if round 2 ever comes. So I had so much success with my little destroyers I was planning to focus on them to make my budget work. I will of course need battleships, dreadnoughts and armoured cruisers to take the fire while my destroyers dive in to attack but my destroyer spam will be to focus of my naval strategy. Now finally my question... Does torpedo explosive power improve over time with research? I noticed this new Rodney class ship could take a lot more fish then earlier ships that would sometimes go down after one. I imagine as battleships progress and get torpedo belt armour it's even harder to bring them down. If torpedoes can't somewhat keep up my strategy might be sunk from the get go! Thanks for any info!

There are research results that will increase the damage from torpedoes. Likewise, there are research results that make it possible to equip ships (mostly larger ships) with better torpedo protection systems. So as usual, it is a case of attack and defence developing in tandem.
BTW there is also research that will increase the damage from shells. You may have noticed that shells early in the game are not all that powerful, and ships can take lots of shells before getting seriously damaged.
