When a 2" gun weighs 2t, and mounting it unarmoured on a Destroyer costs 6t from the available weight, I conclude that this additional weight is for the barbette.
However, certainly as late as 1920, some primary weapons did not utilise the fully enclosed turret-on-barbette method, but were simply mounted on a pedestal attached to the deck, with a gun-shield attached thus greatly reducing the weight albeit at a cost to ammunition handling convenience (and increased risk of a flash-fire!).
Suggestion: Any weapon with 2" or less of turret armour can be mounted on a pedestal rather than a turret or casemate. This method only costs the base weight of the gun (plus the armoured shield) and is less expensive. However, to represent the need for ammunition to be fetched from the magazine rather than being carried/hoisted through the barbette there is a RoF penalty. The weapon is also more vulnerable to flash-fires to represent ammunition being carried in less protected ready lockers at the mount.

I believe that's already implemented. The weight gain you see is distributed among several factors. The gun itself weighs x t (in case of 2 inch gun thats 2 tons), but to that you need to add ammo weight, as well as weight of accomodation space for the crew. That's what amounts to the 6-7t on added weight.

That's a heck of a lot.
A popular gun in the 2" range was the Hotchkiss QF 6pounder/57mm, with the barrel and breech weighing less than 0.4T (385kg). Doesn't include a mount, but 1T is the in-game minimum anyway. As the name suggests, the shells weigh about 6lb (2.7kg) - 370 of these would take up 1t. Finally 5 crew, agreed they'd need accommodation (plus food and water, which doesn't appear to be calculated anywhere - not that I will complain about that!) - but 3-4T worth?
The British QF 12 pounder/76.2mm gun, weighed 0.6t (510kg). Mounted on a pedestal, total weight of gun and mount was 1.23T; HA mount 2.10T and the HA/LA mount 2.45T. Ammunition still light at 12lb (5.7kg) (though in WW2 GB did field 83mm guns firing 25lb (11.5kg) shells), indicating 1T of ammo would contain between 85 and 185 rounds. The game allocates a crew of 7, then subtracts 10T total for the gun.

Don't forget that any weight added on deck, ie above metacentric height would have to be countered by more weight added below to keep stability and weight dispersion.
