Yeah, I thought it was funny too. But that's just the start of the weirdness. When I spawned, I had my battle Division 125nm away from my carrier force and my support carrier division was 130nm away from my carrier force. Seems a bit of a stretch to be that far away? You can see my 3xCV divisions near the bottom of the screen to the left of the 30,000 Yard scale. So something caused the North Sea, Africa pic to happen, I thought it might be a clue to help you guys. And after spawning in mission, this is where I was placed echoing other reports of forces spawning far far away at the start.

In this pic, and I'm sharing these pics because they represent atypical spawn locations I'm not familiar with not having seen before, you'll see 3 blue sighting reports from my scouts. One is between my carrier divisions in the south and my battle division in the north. The other two are located SE of my carrier division in the south. The 2 sighting reports in the SE are of an enemy BC and the other is a BB and BC report. They are so far apart it looks like not only my divisions, but that of the AI are scattered. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy this. Seeing fleets that get separated and having to regroup adds new and complex challenges. But it's unlike any other typical spawn setup, so I'm detailing it. If spawns were a little more random, I'd be down for that. But in case it's not WAI, then here ya go.
