Why I made this mod: The stock 'IDes' (folder of templates located in your Data folder) Ship Design Templates are what the AI uses to build all the ships in the game. These templates are predicated upon having the Washington Naval Treaty in place and this is why the AI doesn't build large displacement ships because most of the IDes feature lower displacement ship designs. But what if your game never has such a treaty? The AI won't ever build large ships because there are no IDes templates for them. Not anymore!
What my mod will do: This mod will add or edit a total of56 77 BB and BC Templates from 1920 to the end of the game that the AI Nations will use to build ships you normally wouldn't see in a stock game. In the absence of a treaty, the continued escalation of bigger caliber guns, thicker armor and larger ship displacement will continue unabated just as it would have been historically had there never been a Washington Naval Treaty. Ships like the historical Japanese Yamato, the USA's Montana, Germany's Plan Z designs, Russia's Sovetsky Soyuz and the French Alsace will all be able to be built by the AI, and many more. Whatever monstrous Battleship designs you may have made in past games, watch out! The AI can build them now too!

Make sure you make a backup of your IDes folder in case you want to go back to stock. Start up a game and during the late 1920's early 30's, the AI should start building designs similar to these.
I've redone hipper's Battleship IDes mod with his permission to create a much more expansive and fully encompassing IDes mod so don't use hipper's AI Battleship Designs mod with this mod. This mod is fully compatible with hipper's carrier designs mod. If you have websites to ship resources to contribute to this project, let me know. *Note* Parentheses are used to denote changes in either reduced values or actual estimated values of which may or may not be used in order to make the design work in accordance with the Cherry Tree Design Bureau. In places where no Turret armor value is given, Barbette armor values are used and the AI will raise the armor of the design automatically to suit tonnage requirements.
In the case of the Class 13, Barbette armor value of 13 is given, but no turret face armor value. It is assumed that turret armor is a few inches thicker than the Barbette armor value. In this case, a lower value is given so the AI may reinforce it as necessary.
In the case of the Kii, No turret face armor is given, but a Barbette of 11 inches and a Conning Tower of 14 inches are used to estimate turret face at 14 inches.
Deck values are estimated in terms of average coverage in some cases. Also in order for a ship to come in at tonnage limit, Deck values must be reduced. Note that a Deck thickness of at least 6.5 inches is needed to stop a 1,000 lbs bomb.
In many cases, ship speed has been reduced to allow for tonnage limits. It may be necessary to use a SpeedHPTable2 mod in order to attain real world speed. See THIS mod.
The Super Yamato and A-200 are completely fictional. They are based off the fact that the Japanese had plans to construct 3-4 more battleships as a successor to the A-150. What this ship would have looked like is anyone's guess. In this case, I chose to go with the 20 inch gun in a 2x2x2x2 configuration much like a lengthened A-150 successor and then a 20 inch gun in a 3x3x3 Super-Yamato variant just to cover all the bases.
In the case of Turret Face Armor, there is an upper value on in-game protection vs tonnage limits as opposed to real world armor values. In order to attain an adequate level of protection while simultaneously achieving tonnage limitations, a lower value is substituted.
There is much conjecture over the size of the guns used on the H-41 and H-42. Going with a lower caliber will ensure the design meets it's tonnage limitations.
The Littorio was designed with a 2.8 inch homogeneous armor outer plate and an 11 inch cemented armor belt placed 9.8 inches behind the outer plate with the gap filled with cement foam called "Cellulite" to keep the water out and assist in de-capping armor piercing shells. Armor was designed to defeat a 15 inch shell at 17,000 yards which equates to twelve inches of Belt armor.
Francisco Franco, the Spanish Head of State, had plans for the Spanish Navy which included the acquisition of four modern battleships, and a variation on the Italian Littorio-class battleships was the favored candidate. These would have been built with no tertiary guns and secondaries would change to 24x 12 cm/45 (4.7") Mark F Vickers Armstrong AA DP guns.
All Generic Battleship/Battlecruiser Designs are able to be built by the AI. They may prefer to build their Specific Nation designs or these. The AI will chose a template and then it adjusts parameters until the design is legal with current tech.
German H-Series Battleships were armored with a belt to withstand 16 inch British shells from 11,000 yards which equates to a 16.5 inch inclined belt value in 1939.
N3 Class is overweight considerably with 18 inch guns, so for viable build design, 17 inch main guns have been substituted.
The Ushakov V1 is a fandom ship that is a response to Britain's N3. Using the more reliable 15 inch gun, this design sports an all forward 4x4x4 configuration.
The Littorio is classed as a BC due to it's speed but may be built as a BB instead.
V2 supposes the Washington Naval Treaty doesn't materialize and Italy arms the Littorio with the originally considered 16 inch guns as they had first planned.
The Amagi and Kii were never built designs so similar in speed and main armament that the best of either class has been represented in one version.
BC5X3 had the belt reduced to 13 and speed increased to 32 due to classification. The photo is incorrect.
BC5X5 had the Deck reduced to 5 and speed increased to 32 due to classification. The photo is incorrect.
