December 1910
The Nassaus have been commissioned. The new Bayern class is an improved Westfalen, with the center turret moved to the back and better defence against guns and torpedoes. Ideally 3 will be ordered, but this may change due to budget constraints.

December 1911
I prepared the fleet for a war this year, but it didn't happen. If a war doesn't start soon, I will have to move the fleet to a lower level of readiness and build more ships. In particular we need modern fast CAs, armed with 9x9" guns, fast, and protected against 6" gunned opponents.
The government needs to decide what they are doing! War or peace -- the navy can live with either, but we must know which.

January 1912
The new Caspar-class destroyer has 4 torpedo tubes. We did consider giving it short range, which would have allowed it to be a knot faster, but decided the loss of flexibility wasn't worth it, considering the possibility of a war against Japan.

September 1912
The new naval secretary wants me to build 21 new destroyers. Fine, our new destroyer design is sound and this will be the foundation of the destroyer fleet for many years.
It looks like there will not be a war. My preparations for war have allowed Britain to catch up in the battleship race. No matter: we will build the DDs, a new class of fast CAs, then a large uniform class of fast battleships. In the meantime the fleet will be put into reserve.

The Scharnhorst class cruisers will be our first ships designed with a fire control director from the start (existing ships are being refitted). They are designed to beat any other CA or CL in a 1-on-1 fight.

The Kaiser tells me he intends to declare war on Russia. I would have appreciated more notice. We will beat them however: we have more ships, better ships, and better trained crews.

November 1913
Another disastrous convoy defeat. The government won't let me use my major units to defend convoys, so the Russians can attack with greater strength.

January 1914
Finally managed to catch the Russian fleet. It was a confusing night battle, but I think we got the better of it.
All of our battleships that were lost, were lost to torpedoes. This means we need lots of destroyers, well armed with guns against enemy destroyers. And also CLs, for the same purpose, especially once we can put fire control directors on them.
But we really need to end the profitless and frustrating war now.

April 1914
Two German battlecruisers fought a battle against 2 Russian ones, both Russian ships being sunk. Between them, they only got a single shot on target. Torpedoes seem to be the main killer of battleships, so my next design will maximize secondary and tertiary armament, and have high speed, to make torpedo attacks harder.
Russia now has only 2 pre-Dreadnoughts. Maybe they will sue for peace?

May 1914
Still at war with Russia.
The new Goeben class battleships are probably the apex for the 3x3 turret designs which started with the Nassaus. Their fast speed and numerous secondary armament makes them harder to torpedo.

The Russian fleet was caught between my main force and my scouting force, and destroyed.

The Russians have capitulated and ceded us Kamchatka. Another colony for the Kaiser.

August 1915
The Goeben class battleships are now building. Time for some CLs: the Gazcol class are optimised for colonial work and defence against destroyers, the Gazrai for raiding.
We now have the highest budget of any naval power. We must make it count.

The Kaiser asked if I could guarantee victory against France. I replied: not guarantee, but with this ship I could. I present the Moltke, an improved Goeben with 9x16" guns:

What is your experience with TDS on cruisers?
I found it too expensive however I did not try it.
