This has probably been suggested a million times, but I wanted to add my two cents.
Task Forces:
The ability to organize ships into task forces during wartime, not only to increase the chance of those ships deploying together but also to make it easier to move ships around to different regions. I understand the reasons why we can't choose which ships go into battle, but Task Forces could at least increase the chances of certain ships being deployed together. More importantly though, I think the ability to group ships together in the strategic overview would at least make it easier to move ships around. Group once and move the whole group instead of selecting each individual ship each time.
Fleet Support:
I know auxiliary stuff is an automatic background thing, but the ability to build and deploy fleet oilers and colliers would be nice. I think they would be a good way to make it easier to deploy ships on long range missions beyond their usual range (think the various long-ranged strikes in the Pacific War) and would add an interesting aspect to tactical battles. I'm not advocating adding babysitting fleet auxiliaries as part of battles, but I think it would be an interesting dynamic if you choose to pay the price of deploying fleet oilers/colliers to increase your range. Think of the Battle of the Coral Sea, where the Japanese mistook an American fleet oiler for a carrier and launched a whole strike against it. Also, having fleet oilers and colliers would allow you the ability to convert them to CVLs, as several real life CVLs began as. Combining this with the above taskforce idea, you could add oilers/colliers to task forces to temporarily increase the ranges of all those ships in said taskforce.
