I'd like for the game to tell me what i'm doing wrong when designing ships because i have no idea why the game doesn't classify this ship as any legal type.

Can't see anything as of now... look at the Flight Installations, Missiles tab. Perhaps try reducing the speed by one knot.

Try reducing the armor belt to 7.5 inches.

Your ship falls somewhere between the definitions of battlecruiser and heavy cruiser. The displacement is too large for a heavy cruiser and the main gun calibre too small for a battlecruiser. I agree the feedback could be better, but it is hard for the game to tell a player exactly what to do to make a ship design legal.

I agree the feedback could be better, but it is hard for the game to tell a player exactly what to do to make a ship design legal. It's not the displacement that's the problem. I just designed a 50,000t CA with no issues. I simply ask there to be the same type of box that can appear when you design a CL or a CVL wrong.

Perhaps the if there is an issue the game could at least pop-up a list of what are the ranges for the current player selected type, in this case CA. The player could manually change to another, like BC, and the pop-up would give them the specs.
Sometimes the game gives us one factor. It really could just list all the parameters for the player-selected class.
The player would then have both sets of specs to know what they are missing. Its the not knowing that can be frustrating.
