I would like to experiment with the gunnery accuracy and damage inflicted by hits. It looks I can make adjust quality modifiers in a number of locations which will improve or reduce gun accuracy.
However I am wondering if it is possible to mod shell effectiveness or the amount of damage inflicted when a shell penetrates armor? I see this in the ordnancetable.dat:
Cal Cat Weight Cost TF1 TF2 TF3 TFC 2 S 5 5 3 4 5 3 3 S 10 10 6 8 10 5 4 S 15 15 8 10 15 7
Does anyone know what the columns stand for? I can only guess but it seems the weight is related to damage. Then the 3 TF and the TFC columns reduces the weight under certain pentration situations but I am wondering what those situations actually are?
So does anyone know if modding the ordnancetable.dat will vary the damage inflicted by a shell?

It seems SpeedHPTable.dat and TorpedoData.dat is used by DesignShip2.exe to calculate ship displacement and not used by the main program.
From what I can see penetration and range is in Gundata.dat, hpen.dat and vpen.dat. So you can adjust the penetration/range/RoF values for a certain caliber shell. However my guestimate is that damage done by a pen hit is hard coded so you can only alter that via gun caliber...
Above found only by repeated trial/error testing.
