I am receiving the following error:
"This program cannot update the installed version of Rule the Waves 2 because of the following reason:
D:\External Fun\Games\Rule the Waves 2\Data\BNat 1900.dat: unknown version."

I am receiving the following error: "This program cannot update the installed version of Rule the Waves 2 because of the following reason: D:\External Fun\Games\Rule the Waves 2\Data\BNat 1900.dat: unknown version." Delete that file in the Data directory, then try again. There might be another file right next to it that will cause the same error. Do the same thing again and try to install. I had the same issue. Those files probably came from a mod or something.

Edit: If you delete the file then the updater may or may not replace it, as it is a binary patch program. The best method is to simply reinstall the game (do NOT uninstall it) to the same location (which will replace all files) and then run the latest patch.

oldpop2000 that's good advice in many cases, but in this case these are RTW2 game files that were altered/corrupted, not Windows system files.

The best way is to save the file or files then update. Now copy the replacement files and send put them on the forum for the team to review and see what the change was. It's more work though. It's easier just to delete them and let the update do the work. Just an idea.
