Playing v1.14 no mods GER with USA as an ally into a war with a battered UK
Fleet battle appears giving me only one carrier (I have 2 CV, 2CVL in the area).
Floatplane search is set I believe.
At the start I tell the carrier to ready all its torp planes for nstrike with torps and all the dive bombers to nstrike with heavy bombs. Floatplanes from battleships etc are used for a small recon effort.
I believe I see the auto patrols to none. However there is a separate cruiser force so I may have done that group and not the one with the carrier.
A few minutes a message pops up:
0 dive bombers ready
Yes... it said 0 as in none. Also coming up in the log is that 1 DVB recon takes off.
Apparently the auto recon function is able to over ride the manual readying of nstrikes.
Note: though I hit save game at this time I accidently hit the exit button so lost the messages to make a screen shot of. Said game file attached.

As the battle progressed my carrier started showing on board several dive bomber groups of 1 plane, light load and unready. I believe these were the hijacked dive bombers returning from their recon flight. This appears to confirm that they had been pulled off the manual set nstrike mission espically as they have an "L" light load for recon and neither the default M/medium or the manually set H/heavy loads.

Another related wierd behaviour. After some time into the battle they 1 plane divers taken for scouts are staying in single plane "squadrons". They arent combining back into their original squad. This means when sent on attacks it is 1 DVB at a time not 5 going in against the AA.
Note that the carrier they come from was 1 squad of 18 TRB, 1 squad of 10 DVB and 1 squad of 12 fighters.
edit: Attached game file. If you go to the air groups, the Carrier group, you will see the 1 DVB, 1 DVB, 1 DVB, etc. It appears five (5) DVB were pulled out for single plane recon from the original 10 DVB group. The expected behaviour is the 1 DVB would have rejoined into the main squad or at least bonded back together with each other should the rest of the squadron be away form the carrier at the time of their return.
