Just saw the selection option for Chin China. Hadn't noticed an announcement. Thanks.

Yes, it was added as a kind of bonus. Be aware that playing Chin China can be quite a challenge. It is definitely difficult mode.

Awesome! I love the idea of trying to turn Chin China into a naval power!

I love the addition but it seems a little strange that China begins with quality 0 6 inch guns when big naval powers begin with -1.

I've been playing a varied, 60% tech game with slow aircraft development as China. I experienced a series of good fortunes, as Great Britain proposed a treaty, then sold me 14"Q-1 guns in 1903. Of course, this was less useful than I hoped, since I couldn't actually build any hull large enough to use them. A war with Russia broke out and with Great Britain keeping the Russians in Europe I was able to snatch up their NE Asian territories in a peace deal.
Soon afterwards, the US joined our alliance and a war with France broke out.

Fredrik, Chin China caught me by surprise (see how observant I am?), but makes me wonder- could we have a Japan-play option then where Chin China replaces Italy? China (or Holland, not yet an option) would be so much better as Japan opponents than Italy.

There is a custom nation mod with that option around, should be on the mod list.

I keep getting stuck writing inside the darn quote!) My initial reaction was "yeah this could replace the default vs. Italy", but to appease all it would be nice to have as an alternative.

Though, the more I read about Qing China the more they would seem to be hosed from the start. You'd have to assume swift and drastic reforms right after the Boxer Uprising, and successful ones. ...and then at least two visionaries (Imperial and Naval) that didn't seem to exist... Did Fredrik say it would be hard?

Did Fredrik say it would be hard? An 1890 start will probably treat them a bit more nicely But in anycase this is probably the hardest option in game so far (even compared to Qing mods in rtw1). I am tempted to do an AAR on it now once missiles are in....

Yeah, well I was going to do an AAR in like Alpha 15 but the rules/features keep evolving so fluidly that my OCD couldn't tolerate it, so I won't be picking up the feathered quill for quite a while yet I'd wager. :]

Heres hoping things stay that way 1.15 definitely adds a lot of very good and honestly unexpected features, I cant wait to see what the next patch will bring now.

I've had luck with my Chin China game, but I was fiddling around with the modded China option before, and I define luck as "My navy is tied for 3rd, and I'm allied with a non-beligerent Germany which is also tied for 3rd". Used the German alliance to beat the French who were alone (barely), and its continued. If I can restore the old territory of China, I'll be quite pleased with myself. ...it is harder than even the modded China, definitely a Paper Tiger strategy is needed.
