After 1925, you might also consider the conversion of AMCs into carriers during a war. The AMC will need to be built and the conversion started during the war, though if the war ends during the conversion process it will complete normally. You can easily build AMCs large enough handle an air complement of 80 or more aircraft after conversion. These ships are limited to 25 knots and lack protection but the planes they carry are no less effective than any other carrier's planes.

How much ammo do is needed?
Is it different on different size guns? or different ships?
Is it just me our once the lvl 1 guns 14,15,16 etc come up is armor just totaly outclassed? I can't find a way to get much more than 13-14 inches of belt even with magazine box. That amount has next to no use against modern leveled up big guns. Deck armor is even heavier and needs to get to 6-7 to have any real effect.
I have been considering using enough armor to defeat crusier guns and then put the rest in speed and firepower. Is that viable?
One last one how much deck armor is needed in the air age to stop getting destroyed by bombs?
I know I am asking a lot of questions but RTW2 is my new obsession.
Thanks and as always Rule The Waves!
I very often design BB/BC with 17-20" of armour using magazine box, so it certainly is possible.

That's not an idea that had ever occurred to me, but it would be one way to get a cheap carrier quickly.

And with 1.15, I don't think they're limited to 25 knots anymore. You get a certain number of "fast liners" which can be made into AMCs and then converted into CVLs.

They should be; it was 1.15 that increased the AMC speed limit up to 25 knots after 1925. In earlier versions of the game, AMCs were limited to 21 knots.

You can convert them and swap out the engines to get higher speed than 25 knots, though that raises the cost and time.

Thanks!
