January 1913 -- Convoy action
We have sunk a French convoy in the Bay of Biscay.
Unfortunately our Bristol-class light cruisers, while fast, are not particularly well armed or armoured.

March 1913
Another month, another French convoy sunk.
We also have double torpedo tube mounts and larger submarines.
We are working on putting aircraft on board ships, which will greatly extend our scouting range.

April 1913 -- the loss of HMS Invincible
Disaster! The Invincible intercepted two french battlecruisers, and though outnumbered, attacked them. Unfortunately they were too strong for her.
Invincible blew up following a hit to one of the wing turrets. In our future battlecruisers armour, particularly turret armour, must be stronger.

August 1913 -- another convoy battle, heavy losses on both sides
We fought another battle against their convoys in the Bay of Biscay. We sank their merchant ships, but at heavy losses to ourselves.
We must make our ships tougher and harder-hitting!

November 1913 -- We are victorious!
Due to our blockade the French government has collapsed.
They have been forced to give us their newest warship, the Dunkerque, and many of their colonies.

March 1914 -- Laforey class destroyers
These will make up our destroyer loses in the recent war. Then we will look as cruisers and capital ships.

April 1915: Centaur cruisers
Our new cruiser class, the Centaur, has 5x6" guns, all on the centerline.
(Historical note: The historical centaur had 3x3" secondary armament, this one has 10x4" to make it a more powerful ship)

July 1915 - Queen Elizabeth class battleships
These are fast battleships, well armed and armoured.
[Historical note: I have added an extra 16x4" tertiary armament]

November 1917
I have started retrofitting directors to all the battleships, starting with the Dreadnought and Bellorophon classes.
This, together with improved guns, will greatly increase their firepower.

December 1918 - Hood-class battlecruiser
The Hood is a battlecruiser version of the Queen Elizabeth.
[Historical note: armour is slightly thicker than the historical Hood, due to experiences with the war against France]

July 1919
Just as I finish refitting all my battleships, some bright spark comes up with increased elevation for the main guns.
Typical!

July 1919
The government has agreed a major arms treaty, over my head, limiting capital ships to 20,000 tons and 12" guns.
The Hood BCs will have to be scrapped!

August 1919 - Rodney mini-battleships
The best we could come up with for a 20,000 ton battleship is the Rodney: 27 kts, 12" belt armour, 6x12" guns.
