Inefficient machinery (worse power to weight ratios) was reported earlier in this thread, and I have seen improved accuracy reported elsewhere, I believe.

I have just finished recently my first game with varied tech on.
I read through the thread to understand what is already known by community. Summary on varied technology:
In save file is new QuirkTech which could have some value
3 ... decrease of realiability of double, triple and quadruple turrets
4 ... low penetration of guns
5 ... less efficient engines
Thourgh the game I find that design fast ship is much more difficult (I read this thread after the first game), my 28 knots CL built in 1919 was just recently in 1925 overmatched by UK cruiser making 29 knots. The battlecruisers has usual speed between 25-27 knots, only several ships has speed of 28 knots.
But through the game I have not see any other changes. Is it possible that only less efficient engines is the only change in my game with varied tech on?
I have just started another game as A-H and have same quirk tech so I am interested if there can be any difference.

while questions about varied tech are being asked - in my last game i got the "double and triple turrets are less efficient than single turrets" quirk, so i played ball and had all my ships mount only single turrets
does this quirk apply to all countries including the ai, or just me? of course the ai still builds their normal ships, but their turrets seemed to be jamming quite a bit which didn't help them in battle
on the other hand, all my capital ships had 6-8 single turrets and in battle it seemed that half of them were always jammed up at any given time so it seemed that the only reason single turrets were better is because you only lost 1 gun per jam instead of 2 or 3 in a bigger turret
