I must say I am surprised by the number of torpedo hits reported. When I play there are very seldom any torpedo hits at all against moving ships. I suspect many players are fighting at very short ranges or perhaps ignoring the threat of torpedo attack and continuing on a straight course? "Damn the Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead" is our motto. No guts, no glory. I guess we should zigzag a bit or do a full battle turnaway, but that isn't as much fun.

In my first play of operational Tsushima as the Russians my first contact with the Japanese was a cruiser at short range in poor visibility that immediately torpedoed the Russian flagship causing a magazine explosion. Completely unavoidable given the scenario.

Yeah, I can see that would be hard to avoid. It must have been a one in a million chance though. Torpedo ranges are much lower in SAI RJW compared to regular SAI and hit rates are reduced to reflect lower torpedo reliability in the RJW period. And a torpedo causing a mag explosion is also a not very common event.
Well, good to hear it seems to have been a real bad luck event and that you are now getting more reasonable torpedo results.
