Hi folks:
Well my youngest son has decided after completing one and one half years of college to join the USN and complete his education in physics. We will be visiting with the recruiter after his finals, so any advice on whether he should delay and get his associates degree first or jump in head first? I am proud that he would chose to serve his country, but I am trying to educate him on the absolute seriousness of his decision. Thanks for any advice!

I would recommend getting his degree and going to OCS afterwards. It is commendable that he wants to serve his country, but he might be able to accomplish more as an officer.

Hi Dennis:
I agree, but he has been having trouble with Calculus and can't take the next level of Physics (which he is doing excellent in). We got him a tutor this semester, but we really should have done that last semester (sigh). He has a classmate who is currently in the USN that has been talking to him about this so he feels he could be more productive in service. Well I want to see what the recruiter says, but yes OCS would be better. Thanks as always!
