Firstly, to the NWS developer team and my fellow admirals: Happy New Year! Something I just noticed in the RTW1 is that it seems mine field is only causing damage to combatant ships. I have not seen a message like "5 enemy merchants got mined in the past month". Therefore, I am not quite sure if minefields is causing any damage to commerce transportation in the RTW1. However, in the real history, I believe that main goal for offensive mine-laying is to jeopardize enemy's maritime transportation instead of causing damage to combatant naval forces. Therefore, I would like to ask if the impact of mine-laying upon transportation will be reflected in the RTW2 game. Also, since we will air force in the RTW2 game, is it possible to assign my bomber or attacker squadrons to the mission "Raider" as well?

I recently started a new RTW1 campaign as United States. In the year of 1919, the war broke out between US and Japan. In the first 2 months, I destroyed 70% of the IJN capital ships(5 BB and 3 BC). However, the war continued for another 38 months because submarine and surface raiders were not enough to shut down the sea lane of Japan. During the whole 40-months war, the USN sank only 74 Japanese merchant ships. This is part of the reason I am so interested in the anti-commerce role of minefield. If minefield could cause damage to merchant ships, I would have been able to force the Japan to surrender with 18 months because most of the IJN battleships are already destroyed and I should have been able to use mine-laying to shut down its sea lane completely without any obstruction.

Happy New Year to you, admiralhood (and everyone) as well! The aerial portion of the game is going through a transition stage right now (i.e. mostly fixing bugs in the core aerial code/logic); once the core aerial stuff is stable enough to our liking then more features and detail will be added, at which point I can address such questions with a bit more assurance of being correct
Edit w/regards to your second post: We are currently looking at what sort of role/at what level/etc we want mining to play in RTW2, so again once we get closer to an internal implementation we can post something about it. However, don't let that stop you from making suggestions - we already have taken a number of excellent player suggestions and incorporated the ideas presented into the game...

Happry New Year to you, admiralhood (and everyone) as well! The serial portion of the game is going through a transition stage right now (i.e. mostly fixing bugs in the core aerial code/logic); once the core aerial stuff is stable enough to our liking then more features and detail will be added, at which point I can address such questions with a bit more assurance of being correct Thank for your reply, William. Would you mind if I ask an extra question that I have raised in another thread however related to both aerial operation and mine-laying: have you considered adding aerial mine-laying(like Operation Starvation) in the RTW2 game? Is it on your to-do list as well? Part of the reason I am concerned about this is because in the WW2 history, for both Great Britain and US, aircraft laid down more mines than all the other methods combined.
