Colour is more of an issue than text, it is the glare from the white background that is really the problems I can see the issue only in night when contrast is high. I usually have small light on as it helps a lot. Do not forgot that rest of RTW screens are quite light too and some of them are part of the game... But aƄ least lower contrast would help.

pale yellows browns or orange shades would make a huge difference. The game being a text based game reducing contrast or brightness does help, but you spend a few hours playing the game strong bright white background takes a toll, text becomes less sharp, one eyes start to struggle to read the text.

You might have more luck adjusting the brightness/color balance of your monitor

I really cant say how likely or unlikely this is - we have never looked at this before so we don't know if it would work properly or not...plus this close to release it is low on the priority list to be honest. Now, having said that, I am also one of those folks with some serious eye/vision issues (I had 2 major eye surgeries last year) so I understand where you are coming from.

Quite frankly, given that RTW seems to just use Windows window drawing calls (or some library that does so on the back end), I don't think it's worth your time, given that Windows has its own high contrast options, as I mentioned upthread. It might be good, though, to have a high contrast variant of the strategic map, and to have a FAQ on setting up high contrast settings in Windows and adjusting battle map colors.
