I’m sorry, comprehensive might not have been the right term. I was hoping for something with a wider variety of ships.

So this is a touch off topic, but not too badly. I’m working on a project for which I need fairly precise schematics for ships from the the early 1910s to the late 1940s. www.shipscribe.com/styles/S-584/images/s-file/s584132.jpgThe above link is a good example. I’m much more interested in the layout of the compartments than the cross section. Does anyone have any recommendations as to books that would be good sources for this? Designs of US and British ships are much easier to find, so any books that have other nations designs would be especially appreciated. If his articles in Warship are anything to go by, the books co-authored by John Jordan on the Marine Nationale during this period might have that kind of info. If you can find someone with them (they're on my list, but I haven't gotten around to them yet) to confirm before buying, though, it would probably be a good idea. Edit: It's a little random in what you get, but the Warship's themselves often have good diagrammatic representations of ships, as do some Warship International articles. As before, though, best to talk with someone with access to them before buying. I've got Warship from 2013 on, and the first five volumes (from the late 70s/early 80s), and can have a dig and see what they've got in them if that'd help? Probably a PM job though, shouldn't go derailing this thread too much. /Edit. goodwood - commiserations - the good thing about electronic products I find is that there are always sales in the future - best of luck for another soon

Also, thanks for the heads-up warspite, have nabbed the nautical books you mentioned. The Battleship Builders is high on my list (and another I'll get in hardcopy, but it's nice to have a Kindle version for the road or reference, or footnotes).
