What kind of message is that? Do planes attack ships between turns as well now?

No, squadron kills/hits are now tracked during wars, so that is an event pop-up just saying that a milestone has been reached- an event pop-up that needs tweaking, because '0' is not a very noteworthy milestone for accolades. :]

Me, as usually with Germany, fighting the arch-enemy France in the early twenties. I have a severe lack of BCs and the AI throws my old SMS von der Tann ( 4 x 11 (-) inch guns in cross-board mount, 27 kn (speed engine), 9 inch belt versus a French BC with 6 (in 3 twin turrets, only one on the bug ... will be important) 14 inch guns, 26 kn and a 11 inch belt, if I remember that correctly.
We are in the North Sea, about Dogger Bank.
The French have some DDs and an AV in addition, I a CL and about 3 DDs . Both have directos.
I send my DDs against the AV to get some compensation for the very probable lost of von der Tann and von der Tann runs in direction Helgoland. Both BCs get some hits and both have their speed lowered. Von der Tann remains as fast as the French BC but cannot leave the firing range. He hits me, I hit him, with no noticable effect. A DD attack of my DDs ends with high losses and no torpedo hit. So, retreat, retreat, retreat.
Then I notice the new message: "Engaged turret out of ammo" and remember that the Frog BC has only one bug turret. I receive only fire from the secondaries in the last couple of turns. Helgoland is now near, also the night ... so I dare to show the enemy the side and give him a volley. Mayb, I get some more points and achieve a draw.
Booooooom ..... one turret of the French BC is hit and the ship blows up.
If that happens to me I would bite in my desk!

So in second year of war with Italy as France and it’s all going pear shaped and two of my best/veteran DDs decide to appear in a battle in the northern Adriatic and even to make it worse get hit by coastal battery -

So, things were middling fine, not a concern, I was modernizing happily. One of my DDs blow up and the Hawks demand action against Italy, and I decide relations are actually low enough that I could take the budget and prestige without war- besides why would Japan fear Italy? I issue the ultimatum and relations spike to 7 or so. Groovy, still not worried. Then I have a "colonial opportunity" in North Korea. Perfect! This is what I need to get closer to completing NE Asian hegemony. I go for it but "Italy Acted Faster!" and seized it, and in doing so spiked relations to war- so, technically, Italy declared war on *me* for trying to grab North Korea. My first act of the war - in the same turn mind you! - is a "surprise" (not really) invasion of North Korea. However since I had tried for North Korea myself that had bumped tensions with the Soviet Union, a whisker itself from joining in. I win a couple easy small battles, no significant casualties to either side, and at 5 months get the "press for hard terms" option. The Soviet Union had just bumped it up to 11, and I decide what I would really rather do is finalize my modernization program in peace rather than get bogged down in a multi-party war. I "press for hard terms", win, getting 4 colony points- ...and North Korea is worth 5. My troops return to South Korea in shame, probably days away from a successful conquest, and I now keep the door to my office locked at all times because everyone in the Navy and Government wants to end me.

What the hell are they doing there in the first place?! They are investigating the legends that spaghetti came from the east. They are tired of making Spaghetti Western movies and now want to make Spaghetti Eastern movies.

Well... my day just got easier. Its 1904 in my new Germany game when this happened: There is or was a small oil source in the Lüneburger Heide, i. e. between Hannover und Hamburg. So, not complete nonsense.

They are tired of making Spaghetti Western movies and now want to make Spaghetti Eastern movies. You can see the strong relationship between both nations by their love to noodles .... Ramen or Maccaroni.
